MegaMOC 2011.
Fictitious french town "Royville", around the year 1967.
About this creation
This diorama was prepared for the 5th annual HispaLUG gathering in Madrid, December 2011. Unfortunatly I did not make it to the exhibition because of work, so these photos are from a test-setup in my basement.
***
Art-deco petrol station:
Note that Exxon-Mobile is called "Esso" in Europe.
This building was the first one in the project, dating back as far as May 2011, and currently represents the longest-living MOC of mine.

(This photo can be viewed in high resolution!)
Although the Art-deco style originally started in France in he ´20s, the petrol-station is distinctively american ´50s-´60s.
***
Cachin Motors:
This is basically a Citroën specialist, although the skilled workshop will do ANYthing.
The showroom with the strange-looking DS Break version.
The nice and orderly back-yard with workshop.
(This photo can be viewed in high resolution!)
As mentioned; the guys workign here are very skilled, and here´s a little something they have been working on in their spare time;
Oh yeah! Happiness...
***
Hotel Chat Noir:
(This photo can be viewed in high resolution!)
The likeness is striking... Two guests hurry away, as the famous chef is known to be rather full of himself, and can drag on and on and on with his tales, once he has "tried" the brandy (spposedly for cooking) too many times...
(This photo can be viewed in high resolution!)
Notice how I cut a road baseplate in half, in order to get more posible combinations. (Please dont hate me ;-)
***
Rue de la Gare:
(This photo can be viewed in high resolution!)
Just another day at the office, for this working girl...
Lots of entertainment in this street. -I am of course referring to the clown and the barrel-organ...
***
Train station:
Okay, I ran out of LBG tiles...
(This photo can be viewed in high resolution!)
Station seen from street-side;

Trains:
All the rolling stock is 7-wide, and exact 0-scale.
SNCF 131; (RC+PF)
(This photo can be viewed in high resolution!)
X-3800 "Picasso" railbus; (RC+PF)
A VIDEO exist with the trains running around;

7th January 2012 (approx.); On "Across MOCpages".
16th November 2012; MOTD. Yay! :-)
I am French, and I recognized many of the details in this scene. The concept is creative: the 60s did include a mix of old and new. Really like the 2cv's (we've got one, a 1989 Speciale), thanks for posting! You definitely made it into favorite builders of mine.
I just can't describe the amount of awesomeness of this... So much details, great techniques used in the buildings' shapes, and your cars!! A huge beautiful city MOC, congratulations!
So much of your characteristic detail to take in at once! The dimensions are amazing, but then when you see the sheer density of the build... Astounding. So many treasures packed into one massive effort. Ah...67 was a good year, after all, it's when I was born! Again, great dio. Attack!
Oh, wow! Finally a MOTD for me! Thanks a lot for the comments! Funny enough this comes exactly 1 week before the oficial presentacion of the MegaMOC 2012, at the HispaLUG National Expo in Barcelona! Stay tuned for "Kingstown, USA, 1959" -Coming soon to a MOCpage near you!
Wow,just wow, this is something that i cant rate,Mocpages should have 10000/10000 rate aswell for mocs like that.I really like all those details and that Mercedes Benz bus!Breathtaking MOC... ;)
Thanks again for your nice comments and support!
I am also writing this comment as a reminder that this MOC was on "Across MOCpages" around the 7th of January 2012. I dont know the exact dates, as I am currently travelling and working abroad... Anyway; Thanks again! :-)
Vraiment super , la station esso magnifique , les DS et 2cV sont excellentes ainsi que le type h on les reconnait dès le premier coup d'oeil .
Chapeau bas !
This is simply marvelous. It contains so many details. The look of the buildings is really nice but the French cars and vehicles are even more beautiful as they can be recognized immediatly. Excellent job.
Small details: the phone cabin, are you sure they were red and not black or green in France ? Red looks more like London to me.
Now this is why you are one of my favorites. I love this. It's not just the way it's built but this MOC has a spirit. A spirit of past in a way with all those beautiful old school cars of yours. When I see that old DS in police colors I somehow expect Louis de Funes to start chasing bad guys in Gendarmerie uniform. I also love that background. This whole place looks as though it's taken from some old post card or something. The details? I won't comment on them. Too many of them and they're all great as far as I'm concerned! Keep up cheering us all up with this!
I have been looking forward to this dio for quite some time. -Well from when you started posting your amazing cars. This is very far from beeing a disappointment. The buildings are as usual very nice standing alone, then combined with the overflow of beautiful vehicles and cahrming scenes, that makes for a truly amazing dio. It´s all fresh and innovative whilst having a very classic feel to it.

Amazing town and incredible bunch of details! Chapeau!
I love the design of the terrace chairs; which pieces did you use to connect the window to the seat of the chair??
I already tried several modified plates with clips etc, but it didn't work out.
Thanks! It´s a plate with clip alright. -But it must be forced a little. The original design is somebody else´s.

Wow, that layout is marvelous! Although the reason why I commented is to point out that a similar (buying a MOC) thing happened to Keith Goldman once and as soon as he had eMailed the price, the buyer disappeared...

Sensational! Great to see the fruits of your labour in this spectacular setting! Did Royville make it to the show even though you didn't?

Just beautiful all around, the level of detail on everything is just astounding! The amount of time that went into this setup is pretty clear. Where did you get the bushes in front of the food truck? They do not look familiar to me...
Thanks! Those are classic LEGO parts from my childhood. From around the ´70ies.
Wow, that's awesome, such a beautiful scenery. Great buildings, amazing details and your excellent 50's and 60's cars :-) The petrol station is my favourite building. There is one of these old ESSO stations of the 50's in my town. Until a few years ago it was still an ESSO station and it had a special permission to use a vintage style red neon sign instead of the Corporate Design look. So this is my favourite building. Great job!

So so beautiful. It's nice to see so many of your MOCs in this too, they all fit together wonderfully. A brilliant scene. 10/10 P.S 'Hard working girl' or is she just 'A working girl'...? Was trying to decipher the outfit!
Viva la France!!!
You left me speechless with this one!
Each picture was so precisely taken
too bad you never entered it in the festival!
You'd have my vote!
Happy New Year!
Oh my this is a Lego wonderland! Too many great details to mention. You could post 20 mocs from this. I love the petrol station, the colours remind me of the Model Team truck. I'm glad you featured all your brilliant Citroens. Such a shame you couldn't display this, I'm sure you would have had a lot of positive feedback. Maybe next year :-)
