The Infrared
Another MOC that's near and dear to me... I built this ship in May of this year as my first "effort-requiring" creation; it sort of symbolizes my transition from "passive" building to "active" building. There are a few kinks in the design that I never got to fixing... You'll see 'em. I'm sort of posting this as a landmark--a display of my System-building skills at the beginning of my time on MOCpages. Hopefully, they will drastically improve in the months to come. Look under each pic for corresponding commentary.
About this creation
The Infrared is a small, short-range freighter that supplies goods to settlements all over our solar system. Having absolutely no defensive mechanisms aside from low-power energy and particle shields, the Infrared rarely ventures out into uncharted areas of the galaxy, as the ship would be a sitting duck for pirates...

The top of the ship, with my lousy greebling job.

No wings? No problem; the Infrared uses ionic VTOL thrusters instead.

The landing gear. I put hours of work into these babies... no, I'm kidding.

Water and fuel injection lines. Don't mix them up.

Fill 'er up!

An extremly disproportionate (but functional :D) docking ring... need to work on my designs for these.

Top greeble close-up. To the left is the oh-so-intricate communications dish.

Engine close up. I really like the paint job... :P

The Infrared splits apart into 2 sections. Well, 2.5 if you count the roof.

Section 1: The Engine Room.

The Infrared's mechanic and his beloved boombox.

The small cold fusion reactor that powers the ship.

Water tank and fuel distribution lines.

The innards of one of the engines. The tan tube is one of two fuel holding tanks; the other one is in the other engine.

The mechanic holds up one of the Infrared's power cells. It contains the isotopes used in the reactor.

Section 2: The Hold

The hatch that leads down to the engine room.

The airlock. Yesss, I need another door to make it airtight.

Another view of the airlock. Just what ya wanted.

This is where the cargo is kept.

Some idiot put the navicomputer right next to the shower... wait, that'd be me.

From left to right, the ship's food storage and climate control console.

The facilities.

Takin' a snooze.

The Cockpit!

The cockpit's interior. Sorry about the lighting.

Thanks for viewing! Comments and Criticism are highly valued.
Merry Christmas to everyone!

Quoting Cody G He Andre, when are you going to build something new? You've commented on a ton of my MOCs, but I've already commented on both that you have posted. :p
Haha, sorry Cody... Basketball has pretty much been eating me alive lately... I've actually got several MOCs collecting dust on my desk; I just haven't had the time to upload them. I should be posting stuff again in early-to-mid March... Thanks for checking! :)

Quoting LukeClarenceVan The Revanchist I always love these kinds of MOCs! My first decent MOCs were freighters for my Sig-Fig, and this really brings me back to those days. The colouration you chose is superb, and really highlights the build. I also really like the shape, especially the engines. The fact that you include so many realistic features on your ship astounds me, and I especially liked the airlock and docking ring. The fact that the engine room is lower than the rest of the interior is a brilliant detail, and the engine room is incredibly well done. Your commentary was well written and funny, especially the Nav computer part. I hope Bonadan's coordinates are on there! All-in-all, this is a truly excellent MOC.
Wow, thanks man! :D Yup, they're off to Bonadan to see their famous shock-ball team, "the Bonadan Blasters." ...whatever that means... :P

Quoting Archon Mitchell nice ship, good thing it is a short haul carrier, the crew would get a bit crazed in such tight quarters if the run took any long duration
Haha, this is true... Ohhh now I wanna make a comic about spaceship cabin fever! Thanks for commenting! ;)
