25096 bricks! A very small update, but, in my opinion, an important one!
About this creation
I've completely rebuilt the communication tower, making it smaller, and, in my humble opinion, better, for the global design of the ship. The ladder to access the tower's top is now inside it, with the access hatche to the inside.
Next time, I might design a communication mast on it, for one or two radomes.
I still need some advice to make a bigger radom and more ROUND!
I've finished the rear canon.
Please come to have a look, fellow builders! =)

This last minute update is because(or thanks to! =)) of Christophe's first comment. What do you think about these smaller canons, Christophe? =)

Mortalswordsman and Deus suggested me these black canons are not at their place... I've removed the upper side ones and made the others a bit smaller and sleeker...

Wow, its massive. Looks much better than it did a while ago. BTW Im building a new ldd sub with my curret building skills. It should be up in a few weeks. I think you should design a helicopter that can take off from a landing pad, any ideas? |

THis is good to know. I have many files containing all of the various stages of the rotor tug, and i just hooked them together at the end to make the final project. I also did this so I could purchase the model, as the total file will not upload to Lego. I can't even imagine 40K pieces, but this is encouraging, as a build of something memorable like the Titanic, or the QM2 would surely be possible. It's funny how once you start building these beasts, like the Posiedon, it's hard to stop. Talk to you soon, Chris |

Jay, I have a couple of questions. I have spent much time checking out other builders LDD stuff, and this is probably the biggest project I have seen! I notice that the program starts bogging way down around 10K pieces, how many does this vessel have? Also, as for the design, fantastic! It's easy to cheat and use LDD extended to paint the builds, but this is just "forged from scratch. From one old school builder to another, very nice. Chris |

Hi, dude! At this time I'm talking to you, I'm arround 25000 parts, almost 26000. I've noticed some bogging really annoying when I was around 18-20000. The program just close and I could not save my changes... or the program has artifacts and I can save, but have to close and reopen it(just follow my poseidon directory, or my last posts, I'm explaining this in "A bug in the Matrix".) Then I've found what was the real problem, with some big project like this: the outline option was quoted in LDD display settings.(because this is so convenient and nicer). I've leaved the advanced shader options enabled, but unquoted outlines, and the artifacts have gone, like a lot of crashes...(but SOMETIMES, it still crashes without saving! =() HEY MY FRIEND! You wanna see some HUGE LDD creation, you come to see "ANDERS T" and his line ship(he is in my favourites): over 40000 parts!(I've opened his marvelous ships on my computer(it seems to depend on the project, his one was opening with outlines enabled!)
My conclusion is that I've noticed that to make all my floors removable has made the program unstable... The bugs seem to have really started here... I had not these types of issues with my Titan submarine's (8000 parts!)
Now, with 25000 parts, when I try to open it, the program always crash with outlines enabled!
Last but not the least: my PC: Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3Ghz - 6 GB RAM - Radeon HD6970 2 GB RAM - All drivers updated - I hope all my bad experiences with the software can help you! |

From the heavy front canons to trident symbol in the back, just a great overall, fierce looking ship, it's going to payoff at the end :)

I like your last up-grades: the new two barrels front-turret are more consistent with the overall design. I like the side weaponry too. Good idea to suppress the machine-guns on the main deck, but maybe you can add one of them on the front or on the rear of the ship.
Anyway, this last entry shows a more fluid shape. Great work!!! Courage pour la dernière ligne droite... ^^ |

Hi ;). Thanks for the link. After another look I think the black guns (on the roof) added balance to the ship especially when you look head on. However, I think they were slightly too big, but your new smaller design is great. Maybe reinstate the smaller ones on the roof, but chance the colour to grey. I am assuming this could be done easily on LDD. Please remember I know nothing about ships, to be honest I don't know much about anything really ;) haha
I think i've understood what is the problem for these canons. In my opinion, not the colour. I made the "contrast" on purpose, not to have a "boring grey", but something with some very few different colours... Some cool black for my machineguns, no?!? Definitly no?They might be not too big, but too HIGH! Look a the pics, they too high compared to the rail. I could be misteken, but I'll try and show you! ;-) |

Hi Jay :). I didn't expect you to remove them! It is an amazing moc I was just trying to be helpful. I hope you don't think bad of me. Either way it still looks great :). I can't wait for the next installment. The black guns looked fine on your previous post but the new comms tower is now more refined so maybe that' is what makes them stand out more. Good luck with this beast of a moc. Merry Christmas :).
Hi, fellow builder! Don't worry about that canons... I'll try to improve them or to make something a little different. Smaller/lighter machinegun structure, for exemple. But I was already thinking myself they were "too much" on the roof. Nice for protection, but not really for aspect! I hope you will it find it better this way, for me, yes, even if it still need a little work. I've quickly modified when I've seen your comment and Deus one's, you just helped me to choose, my friends, OK? ;-)
And a merry christmas to you! |

I'm not sure about those smaller black guns, but other than that, I love the progress. Keep building, this will probalby be LEGO designer's last big buisness. Maybe (although it's near impossible) LEGO will keep purchasable LDD MOCs simply because of your Titanic (or Poseidon-ic) orders?
Maybe they have to be removed. Tell me what you think about the version with less canons on top... I'd like to find a cool design for some AA canons. By the way, I am still not sur to buy the boat: 2 important points are still uncertain: 1: MONEY!!! 2: It has been a long time I could not check Poseidon's price; the last time, it was around 4400-4500€!!! Now, I'm not able to check anymore so I'm a bit worried! I'll maybe have to learn how to convert my LDD file in a BRICKLINK order! I'll need some help! =) |

The new comms tower is a massive improvement in my VERY humble opinion - I know nothing of battleships or building on this scale. It is much more refined and detailed and looks perfect. I also like the big grey guns. But considering the "global design" I think the black guns look slightly out of place. Maybe it's just the colour. I hope this helps. Thanks for your comments on my latest. Oh, what is a radom?
