1 Month Later...

The lock clicked as Blast undid it and pulled open the lid on his injection case. He was stood on The Manipulator’s bridge and the only people present were the Captain who was standing down in the crew quarters, and him. He pulled out one of the syringes and filled it up with the blue-goo that prevented him from mutating again.

He took off his left glove and inserted the needle into his main vain. He squeezed down on the lever and the goo flowed into his hand. He winced ever so slightly as he pulled the needle out again and put his glove back on.

“I can’t wait for Coruscant.” He muttered to himself as he placed the syringe in the sterilizer.

WHAM!
Suddenly an enormous jolt rocked through the cruiser and caused Blast to stumble and fall onto the floor.

He looked down the bridge’s central walkway and out of the front window. He could see the sky around them slowly start rising upwards and then he realized as it sped up; the space wasn’t going up, the ship was tilting down!

And he was right. The Manipulator was tilting forwards and dropping down through space towards the planet of Wayland.

“CAPTAIN!” Blast yelled as he leant on a computer to help himself up.
“Sir!” The Captain staggered over to him as the ship rocked again.
“What the hell was that?!”
“We were hit from behind sir!”
“By what?” Blast shouted.

“I’m not sure sir. It looks like a droid ship! But whatever it was, it’s taken out our engines!” The Captain replied and grabbed onto the walkway railings as the cruiser rocked yet again.

Blast staggered over to the main window and looked out just as two C.I.S. Vulture droids zoomed past.

“God damned clankers.” Blast cursed. “LET ‘EM HAVE IT!” he bellowed back to the captain who ran from the bridge and a few seconds later multiple shots were flying past the bridge from one of it’s turrets. The first few missed the droid ships that were now turning round and coming back towards them, but he next couple caught them and blew them to dust.

Blast smiled and heaved a sigh of relief but then his mouth opened in shock. How could he have been so stupid? Two Vulture droids weren’t enough to take out the massive engines.
“Captain!” he called as the man came back into the room. “Go to one of the rear windows then report back with what you see.”

“Yes sir!” the Captain replied, confused, then ran from the room again.

A couple of minutes later he returned with a look on his face that could only have been terror.
“What’s there? What did you see?”
“Droids sir. It looks like the droids are about to send a strike force down to the planet.”

Blast bit his lip then looked out of the main window again as they burst though into the atmosphere. “Well, it looks like we’re gonna’ find out for certain soon.”

He pulled out his comlink and linked it into the ships loudspeaker system.
“Attention all personnel. Prepare for crash landing immediately. Repeat; Prepare for crash landing.” He ended the call and looked out of the window once again to check how close they were.
“And there’s nothing you can do?” he checked.
“Nothing sir. Absolutely nothing.” The pilot replied looked worried.

They both turned as the bridge doors swooshed open and Padfoot and Nightblaze ran in.

“What’s going on?” Nightblaze asked them but then they both just stopped and stared as their question was answered just by looking ahead out of the window. Blast also turned around and the four of them stood there gazing ahead towards the landscape that was quickly rushing up to meet them.

“Look!” Padfoot pointed and as they looked harder, they saw a small building a few miles away that had the Republic symbol painted onto the roof. “It must be a republic base!” But then it disappeared from sight as they headed closer to the ground.

“PREPARE FOR IMPACT!” R.K. bellowed and they all grabbed the nearest object.

Milliseconds later the ship smashed nose-first into the ground. Everything inside was thrown about including the men on the bridge.

The giant cruiser skidded through the ground on its nose, pushing up the ground around it but then it started to slow and the rear end fell down with another enormous crash that jolted everyone again.

On the bridge, Blast watched in horror as his still-open case of medicine flew through the air and everything fell out as it smashed on the floor at the opposite side of the room.
“NO!” he shouted.

The ship continued to skid along the ground, but now gradually slowing until it became completely stationary with a shudder and a groan.

Even though the ship had now stopped, everyone on board remained completely still, just in case. Slowly Blast stood up, eyes wide and looked around.

The doors opened and Jelli staggered in closely followed by Slash.
“Have we stopped?” She asked.

“I think so.” Blast answered as Hess also walked in. Padfoot, Nightblaze and the Captain stood up and joined the group.

“We should scout the area. As soon as possible.” Slash put in as Falcon stumbled through the doors to join them.

“Yes. I agree.” Padfoot agreed. “Blast?” he looked to him for his permission but the leader just continued staring past them all but then stepped forwards and gently brushed Slash and Jelli to the side so he could get through.

He knelt down and lifted his medicine case to the side so he could inspect the damage. Every single tube was smashed. Not a single one remained.

“No.” he whispered. Without the injection he was in danger of mutating again. At least he had only just taken one. That meant he had a whole day before he needed his next one.
“Oh, that’s not good.” Padfoot commented, looking over his shoulder. Blast stood up again and turned to face them all.

“No. It’s not. But we can’t rush. We don’t know where those droids are.”
“But we only have twenty four hours though.” Pointed out Falcon. Blast thought about it.
“Right, wait a few hours and then if the droids still haven’t turned up, we can assume it’s safe and then send out the scout team.”

“Yes sir!” Padfoot saluted and one by one the team dispersed.
