Well now, here's the Christmas MOC! I know, I'm uploading this 10 days before Christmas, but I was growing quite impatient. Anyways, enjoy...
About this creation
Originally, the creation was intended to be just the nativity on the rock that says "Jesus Is Born Today" (continue below to see the words), but I decided to add Herod raging in his palace on the bottom. This represents that Jesus is the new King, and Herod's placed directly below him.
The Angel was added afterwards, upon request by the family.
The manger with Jesus, Mary, Joseph, the Wise Men, the Shepherd, and the animals.
Herod's palace with the two guards.
The back of Herod's throne.
The next few images speak for themselves. Sadly, I realized after I finished the MOC that the words were on the wrong sides, and Jesus' name was supposed to show in the front. I was in no mood to change this, so a bit sloppy on my part.

The shepherd and the sheep.
The Wise Men.
Backside of the manger.

One of my favorite parts of this creation would have to be these lamp pieces, what with the gold cup pieces and cones.

Without the characters.

Fourth Roof Commentary
As I said before, I've grown impatient without uploading this, considering I finished it at around late November. 10 days before Christmas should be sufficient enough. I'm really glad how this turned out in the end, except for the word placement: That was just annoying once I found out they were in the wrong positions.
The manger design uses mostly Wild West-styled pieces, with the vertical-shaped "log" sections. I made good use of the "Log Wall" pieces I received in a Wild West set.
I really wish I owned more circular technic pieces in white, the trouble is most of them are "dirty white", and I didn't have enough, so I resorted to regular white bricks for the rest of the columns. Someday, I'll make a better version of that section, unless I decide to design the Christmas MOC differently.

Very good build, well done! A trick for restoring the yellowed, old bricks to white is to soak them in a hydrogen peroxide and oxy-clean solution for a few hours.
Wow, great idea. I'll keep that in mind for any future builds that involve this color of brick. |
