Built by Beck, George (4th graders) and myself during Saturday Lego lessons.
About this creation
Working with kids is one of the best ways to get new ideas or try out something interesting and fun. Beck and George wanted to do a microscale battle between aliens and army. We started by talking about how to make an interesting composition and came up with the sloping landscape on a diagonal. We also talked about using very small elements when building in microscale to show detail. The initial figures were a little too simple, so we expanded on them to add character. The vehicles were fun to design and create action with. The final product is very much a collaboration between the three of us and turned out better than I expected. Well done lads!
This is an excellent creation guys I really like the colours and the action scene. The UFOs are especially good. Very creative. Dave, would you be interested in joining my Father and Son Lego group? The group is open to all adult and child combos (not just Dads ;) ). I will send you an invite. No pressure to join but I would be honoured if you did. The aim is to show support to younger builders by offering supportive comments and feedback. It is not the most active group but I hope to increase the numbers. Regards Joe
Very good work, Beck and George (and you, detective). I like to hear that you redesigned some parts. Many people post their first design right away, but very often you can improve your work when you take some time to think about it.
Glad to see that the younger minds are getting help from a pro. Very good, tell them that I think they out-built Phippy and Kelso! This is great, I'm glad to see something from the younger LEGO audience. In my school, I have just found, and am helping start, a LEGO Robotics club. Hopefully I can take pictures and upload the robots from the club. Again, great to see the next generation building! - KP
