As one may be lead to believe, Carrion does refer to the carcass of a dead animal. Due to the shape of the main deck, which somewhat resembles that of a spine, it was nicknamed the "Carrion". X1 stands for "Xavier 1" named after a famous pilot of the OMEGA Squad.
