My entry for the Torrent Company Contest Round 2
About this creation
For round 2 in this interesting contest I was paired with Austin Durick in the category 'Base: Build a base from an SW era.' It didn't take me long to decide that I would build a clone base, as I love clones (naturally :P). Despite some issues with the ceilings caving in at least twice I have finished the build on time :D.
OK lets get down to the base itself. Now that the Republic have taken the Separatist fort on the edge of the capital, they have established a base there. It needs to be strong and sturdy to withstand a possible droid invasion. Jedi Master Mahela Balaji and his Padawan Monkubacca are installed in the base, along with Balaji's personal elite clone squad
The main picture is a front-on view (Note that the front of the base is exactly symmetrical, down to the brick sizes).
An AT-RT patrols outside the base

A clone looks through his binoculars into the distance

Powerful laser turret is a useful weapon to have. (OK I nicked the turret and the trench from the Battle of Hoth and they might look slightly out of place here, but I thought they looked fairly good).

The sliding front door is open...

And now it is shut

Full view of the interior (this is my favourite photo). All the different areas will be explored in later photos.

First off is the hangar or bike shed I suppose is a more accurate term. A clone is tinkering with his bike, to make sure it's working properly if an invasion comes

On the right of the ground floor we have the mess room. In the foreground a clone practises his shooting accuracy (you can see the target on the far right) and another clone views a hologram message (obscured by the pillar)

Better view of the clone looking the hologram, with a weapons store on the wall

Upstairs to the left is the planning room. Jedi General Mahela Balaji and his Wookiee padawan Monkubacca (out of shot - I have just realised I don't have a photo with him in it... oops!) discuss tactics with Clone Commander Fraser by the main planning table. An Astromech droid wanders around the room

The radar and control unit. It is empty at the moment, the troops are resting or planning

Captain Rex has arrived! He might have some important information to relay to Fraser and Balaji

The barracks on the other half of the second floor. A defect clone (like 99 in 'Clone Cadets') cleans the floor and there are two beds at the back. There is also a table to put helmets on when not in use on the right.

View along the third floor, which I designed to be a bit like an attic. This is a general room for the lower ranked clones, an ARF trooper can be seen studying a map in front of the organ (well the clones need something different to entertain themselves once in a while, don't they?)

Closer view of the beds downstairs (this picture is a bit dark, sorry about that) They are loosely based on the ones seen in 'Clone Cadets'- yes that episode again). The beds slide out and in, its not really very well represented in this shot

Longways view of the second floor, with the table in the foreground and the mini-barracks in the back.

Longways view of the ground floor, with the speeder bikes in the foreground this time. The staircase can also be seen a bit better here.

My favourite roof-tiling effect, creating a little bit that sticks out from the rest of the roof

And a bird's eye view to finish off!

Hope you like it, please like and comment :D
And lastly, good luck to my opponent :)

Nice! I love the doors, the turrets, and the details you've put it that! But roof does not look very "star wars". Nice build, anyway! |
