Another day-of entry. Oh, well. I've got it in. Fun Fact: This entry is titled after one of H.P. Lovecraft's great stories about a creepy old man in a house. Read it at your own discretion...
"Most horrible of all sights are the little unpainted wooden houses remote from travelled ways, usually squatted upon some damp, grassy slope or leaning against some gigantic outcropping of rock. Two hundred years and more they have leaned or squatted there, while the vines have crawled and the trees have swelled and spread. They are almost hidden now in lawless luxuriances of green and guardian shrouds of shadow; but the small-paned windows still stare shockingly, as if blinking through a lethal stupor which wards off madness by dulling the memory of unutterable things.
~ H.P. Lovecraft, "The Picture in the House"
Here is one of said houses, it's front door torn off it's hinges, it's shingles broken off and in disarry. At one point, it may have been a nice cottage with a slightly luxourious kitchen, and now the windows lay fractured and blinking, the curtains still slightly drawn, hiding it's secrets within...
But no such secrets are discovered, as a lone Shiftry stalks the night of the forest that incompasses the lone building, and no soul would dare be caught alone by it's cursed thoughts.
It's ghastly white mane is a ghoulish sight to nearby townsfolk, and the mere sound of it's incessant chanting of unknown and cursed words send the most virile of heart to their knees.
Should one stray passerby come across the inside of the house, they find it in abandonded disorder, a chaotic mess left in wake of it's prior tennats, that myth say fled in terror from a phantasmic horror.
The phantom in question is a lone Lampent, a pokemon of seclusion and fright, it's small light guiding only the souls of the doomed. It wanders these forbidden halls in the lonesome search for something...
Ecce! Has it's search ended? Is that the object that it sought for ever so long and so incessantly, hidden behind the years and years of chaotic miscellany?
Yes! It is! A Dusk Stone! The item of the Lone Lampent's search! Finally found! And now...
It's evolution is complete. The Lone Lampent has become a Solitary Chandelure. And so forever it shall float dismally through these halls and light the ways of those gone astry and yearning for brightness.
BARON's Notes:
Well, cutting it a bit close, yet again, but I got it up now! Hurray! Anywho, I recently obtained a copy of short stories by H.P. Lovecraft, and they are very good. 'The Picture in the House' struck for a good bit of inspiration, but the Kitchen area of Luigi's Mansion was a better point for reference.
On a side note, I quite like the system building I did here. Most people felt I may have a slight advantage due to the judges being Bio-MOCers like myself, but I have experimented with system before, and I feel this turned out awesomely. I may be doing a small transition for a while to system builds until I get done with TRATI; it's really limiting my schedual for posting, and thus, building. But the story is too good to end and too far in to stop now. It's just going to be a while...
Quoting Toa Phosphorus
Brilliant. Looks fantastic. Hey I was wondering if you wouldn't mind doing what you did for cossy's Toa Lotem for me for my team. Just wondering.
Phos
Sure. I'll invite you to my private group. We can talk pics and edits there.
Hey Ben! Jacob has agreed to do a super round! Since there are only a few days left of round 3 though, you'll only have to build one extra Pokemon. Drop a comment in the PokeMOC league saying you got this notification and wish to participate in the super round (if you don't, you'll just be assigned a regular category when round 4 starts) and I'll assign you a category to build six Pokemon in.
Another brilliant entry! LOVE the vigs you've done here, they are always some of the best! Great work ;) As for the Pokemon, Shiftry is awesome! And Chandelure is great! Lampert is my least favourite, but I'm by no means saying I don't like it! This was extremely tough to judge but you got my vote man (may I add by one point :P) Both entries were excellent! Great work bro ;)
Dang, both entries were really good! This was difficult, but my vote goes to you. His Absol was better than your lampent, but your chandelure was better than his and your shiftry was awesome. One thing I think you should work on is a consistant scale, shiftry was a little big compared to chandelure, considering there is only a foot difference in height. Still, a solid entry, and worthy of my vote!
Oh man this looks way better then my last-minute entry. Great scene all around, though! I especially like Shiftry and Chandelure. Nice work on those. I built a little mini Chandelure, I'll have my page up pretty soon.
Nice. Awesome use of system too. Good luck with the judges. But I believe you are required to mention what terrain you were assigned near the beginning of the page.
