This is my very first attempt at an AEGAKS design so I wanted it to be a little unique looking, rather than overly armed I gave it minimal weaponry. This is my part of the informal challange I had with Rabid, and since this is my first in this category I had to use his frame to start.
Thanks guys for the great comments! I'll try to adjust this accordingly the next time when I build a variant of it! The cockpit looks strange because , unlike Rabid, I placed the "head" higher and not on the cockpit section so the proportions are more focused on the head instead of the cockpit. As I mentioned before I wanted it to be more unique and not something that sticks too closely to it's reference. I'll do a heavy weapons type with bulkier armor later but right now I resume my Mobile Suit line(I also have plans to try some Armored Core style designs in the future).
Well, maybe i'm not the very experienced builder that you mentioned, but I've built some AEGAKS before and I have one or two words about it. I really liked it, a very interesting concept, a flow of new inexplored ideas angles and connections (at least for me). The compound legs, the arms and the head are very well conceived, real highlights. Although, there are some things already commented by other builders that need a little more attention, and then it would be perfect. Firstly, the upper arms look a bit 'unfinished' or maybe 'simple' compared to the rest of the body. Not that you need shoop-da-whoops thingies in the shoulder, but a bit more protection in it would be nice, maybe some curved or angled 4x6 slopes on the sides pointing up. The pilot block is one of the most amazing pilot blocks I've ever seen in the pages; the 'fighter' mode is unmatched. But the angle it is attached to the body is a bit awkward. The cockpit look like a fat belly in this way. If you put a bit higher or angled it up would do the trick. I know my AEGAKS MARTE is built in the same way, but it's meant to be a small and bulky mech in which the 'belly' feature fits. Anyways, it's a very nice AEGAKS rendition and the mix with the Gundam theme is superb. About the color scheme, I prefer the alternative one.
This is a great AEGAKS/Gundam combo! Very cool, I like the minimal weaponry. Some people just put too many weapons on mecha (myself included).
My only criticism is that something about the cockpit doesn't flow well. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it my be that it's too low down; it gives the effect that your mecha has little or no torso.
Great job! You are a very experienced Gundam builder and I'm glad you could bring something new and unique to the AEGAKS table!
Well, that's a very interesting mashup of styles. Though while I must confess I fully expected it, the manner of which you achieved this was unexpected. First off, I very much like the head. Absolutely fascinating design with the headspikes. The overall design is very nicely made, though there are a few things that I feel would improve it. Firstly, I think the shoulders are a bit lacking. While I understand that the "wings" might get in the way, I think the shoulders could defintely use some smoothing and ornamentation. Also, I'm glad you realized that the legs are supposed to be almost fully extended for this frame. There are some random places where I would change the parts used because this particular model, I think would look best smoothed over with curves rather than with angular armor. Also, I much prefer the alternate colorscheme to the original Gundam colors. All said, very nicely done, especially for a first time. It kind of looks like the cousin of my Maksis, which I'll be posting tomorrow. ^Blub^
