McLaren MP4/5B
My largest scaled car so far, and my second white car.
About this creation
This is Ayrton Senna's 1990 championship winning Formula One car. Although he "only" won 3 Formula One championships (Michael Schumacher, holds the record for the most Formula One championships has 7), almost everyone says he is the world's best Formula One driver. Sadly, his career was cut short by his fatal crash in 1994. You can find out more about him by watching
this Top Gear video
. Special thanks to MortalSwordsman . for helping me find the right wheels and tires on Bricklink.

Excellent! You are really good at building detailed cars this size, i can even see it's an older body style compared to 'modern' F1 racers :-)

Hi LBJ :). Another beautiful moc from you. As you know I love to leave studs showing, and mocs like this prove the point that studs allow for added texture and curves (as Nick says below). I love the crisp look of the car and the steering arms look great. Steering would be nice but not essential when it looks this good. Excellent work my friend and thank you for the mention :). Senna was a true legend and winning 3 titles in his era was equal to Schumi's dominance in his era. Keep it up LBJ.

Quoting DeTomaso Pantera Cool, i was wondering how big it was, mine's 20 wide if i remember rightly. It's my only surviving car creation, i will never dismantle it but i have borrowed a couple of pieces from it. It's been improved apon and i will one day get stickers for the livery. Anyway bed time now it's 03:15 here Zzzzz
Yeah, I was thinking it was past your bedtime! Hahaha

Quoting DeTomaso Pantera You should! I'd like to see the Prost/Berger era car 1991 Ferrari 643. Not very successful but lovely to look at. Finish the transporter 1st ;-)
Yeah, I was thinking of building one in that era - there's a lot of new F1 cars here already. In case you're intrested: Dimensions 21 front track width, 23 rear track width, 53 long, and 16 wide (interior area).

Quoting DeTomaso Pantera Haha i did notice the rear axles were bending a little, but that makes it look like there's camber on the wheels :-) Steering would probably make it stronger than it is at the moment. I'd leave the steering out though, i really dig the the suspension/steering arms! You've done this beautiful car justice i'd like to see it next to mine to compare the size :-)
Haha...I'd love to too, but I live FAR away from you guys! :( Maybe I should build a Ferrari F1 car at this scale.

Quoting Nick Barrett The great thing about good cars at this scale is that the studs give them texture - an art you've mastered.
Wow! Thanks a lot! I hope to a few more cars at this scale in the future, but I think I still will focus on 16 stud wide cars.
Quoting DeTomaso Pantera Nice work! You captured the characteristics of this car very well and some of details are brilliant, like the suspension and steering arms, talking of steering...you really should be incorporating it at this scale (it looks quite a bit bigger than mine) but i can forgive it because of how it looks, with that cool (new)? technique. Also the white on the nose needs to be a touch wider and more curved. the sculpting on the rest of it is really accurate. Well done LB i like this very much even though i am nitpicking ;-)
Yes, I agree! I should've added steering, but right now I can't think of a way of doing it for this car as it's kind of too heavy. On this car, I really wanted to bring out some details that usually aren't built (suspension, steering arms, etc...) But I know I'll eventually be able to do it. I haven't seen the technique that I used for the front axle area used anywhere else yet. How should I build steering on a car this size? Any suggestions?

Superb work. Nick (below) is so right about the studs; they look terrific! The suspension detail is really good too, I don't think I'd be able to do anywhere near as good a job as you have. A properly excellent MOC, 5 stars
