This is my second attempt at the German Luftwaffe's Focke Wulf 190, a true terror of the skies. This aircraft belongs to 3/Jg-54, one of the more Successful FW-190 units that fought on the western front after the Normandy invasion. Commanded by Robert Weiss, and ace with 121 victories, 3/ Jg-54 had a kill loss ratio of 2:1 initially. However as the war progressed and allied airpower greatly outnumbered the Luftwaffe, things changed. Weiss ordered his men into the air to intercept a large formation, and they were swarmed by British Spitfires. The Germans claimed six Spitfires, but the British shot down all 17 of the German fliers, killing 13 of them, including Weiss. 3/Jg-54 was never the same after that, and its pilots continued to suffer high losses at the hands of skilled and numerous allied attackers. The major changes I made to this second version were to the canopy and cockpit area, and the adding of tiles and decals. The retractable gear has been greatly improved as well. All in all, I'm quite happy with the way the FW turned out...

Superb work on this: historically accurate and a very sleek and interesting design. If you have time, I'd love if you checked out my German Arado Ar 66 - http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/292039 - keep up the great work |

Wow, looks really nice, I especially like the landing gear. Not really sure what plane you should build next though, maybe a JU-87 Stuka? Another interesting idea, a Domier Dor-335. But I am really waiting for that Spitfire. |

Broke ground on the Spitfire last night! I've been working hard on getting a B-25 that I like going, but keep tearing it down since the nose isnt accurate. I'll check out your Spitfire, and should have mine finished by the weekend! |

I like it! Are you building the Spitfire yet? I made one, but it's pretty difficult. Can you comment on it at: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/294840 Of course you don't have to like it if you don't. Just want to hear some comments. Thanks. I'll be looking forward to the Spitfire! |
