UFO hunting Fighter.
About this creation
I got the hankering to do something like this while playing the game UFO: Alien Invasion. I did not build something from the game, however (which is not even centered around aerial combat). Instead, this turned into a small homage to Zane Houston's work (with apologies to Zane).

Please, no comments about the size of my guns. It's about where you aim them (and possibly the rate of fire).

The pilot is a multiple amputee. He flies the Dove through a machine vision/recognition interface and some embeded cerebral probes. He is a veteran of many sorties and has survived my general lack of interest in minifigs or minifig scale building.

Long and short range missles.

ECM pod.

This plane requires a lot of maintenance, hence the repair robot designed to get a lot of things done fast.

And here is what the Dove pilots are up against. A captured alien pilot.

Not only are they dangerous opponents, they are also rude. During interrogation, they may well stick their tongue out at you.

If they sense they can get a rise out of you, they may stick all 3 tongues out at you.

This is the pilot's somewhat old fashioned girlfriend. This is here because, not expecting to make a lot of MOCs with minifigs, I will not have many chances to put ruffles on a fig. And which of us can go home with our heads held high without having put ruffles on a fig.

In the same vein, Falstaff here flunked out of the Dove pilot training programme because he just drinks beer all day. Can you blame him?

Meanwhile, Popeye is either doing his usual freakish forearm workouts, or he is packing some high tech gadgets under his sleeves. Turns out there are not a lot of parts besides the 1x1 rnd plate and the hose ends that fit between arms and hands and still allow the hands to hold on. Unfortunately, the technic 1/2 bush is not one of them. I though that would have made a better sleeve ruffle.

Ironically, the toothed bush (which would make a great ruffle) fits, but the only plausible color for a dress is aqua. I guess the gray ones could be used for some sci-fi purpose.

This is surprisingly swooshable. It is heavy, but not at all delicate.
4th Wall Commentary: this is where Zane starts rolling his eyes.

Oh yeah, thanks. Give me a day. I'm stuck in the middle of a brain buster here. Man I need a nap. Sharkboy is well on his way to a trip to a child psychiatrist for OCD. Man I need a nap. |

Very nicely done, its look has a realistic feel to it, while retaining the Science Fiction appeal. Adding all the supporting characters, such as the maintenance robots, was a nice touch to add to the immersive quality of the MOC. Nice wok as always. |

the actual morning dove is quite tasty by the way.
Hahaha! It's also the most frequently shot game bird in the US. I had it in mind as a joke that the UFOs usually win, but I'm not into lengthy write ups anymore. |

This bird's no dove, it's a full fledged raptor! The symmetry of the design gives it that Flash Gordon 30's look while still being just as sleek as any modern design. There's no question in my mind that your a top class builder in these parts. |

That's a really cool fighter. Great shaping and parts usage. My favorite parts are the Technic angular wheels used for the cannons and the mud guards used as air intakes. Well done! |

WHOOO!!!! THAT right there is a beautiful alien hunter! not only have you mastered the art of studlessness but the details are incredible. Just like in everything else you have ever built, you display multiple unique techniques using pieces that most people would throw into an "unusable pile"; my favorites in particular are the use of those four-toothed-globular-tecnic-gears (worst description ever but I don't care!) and the wheel covers you have on top of the wings, I've had a good amount of those for a long time and I have yet to incorporate them into something. Very, very well done!!! |
