Final CLHFD order
The CLHFD's last LDD order
About this creation
I've recently discovered that as of January 12th, 2012, Lego will no longer be offering custom made models through LDD. The software will still work function normally, however the Lego company won't be accepting DesignByMe orders. My original plan was a fleet of about 30 vehicles, purchased over a period of a couple of years. Now, I'm rushing to build my fleet as quickly as possible before January 12th. So, with that, I've put together this order, of 8 vehicles which will most likely be the last 8 vehicles that the City of Lego Heights Fire Department will get. Pictures are below. When these are all purchased and built, it will give the CLHFD a fleet of 16: 3 Engines, 1 Squad, 3 Tower Ladders, 1 Quint, 1 Rescue, 2 Rescue Medics, 1 small minipumper that I've yet to create an assignment for, and four small staff vehicles. As of right now, these 8 trucks are all that I'm able to purchase, but I'm hoping that with Christmas coming, I'll be able to squeeze in at least one more engine, maybe two.

Rescue Medics 12 and 15 will be receiving twin 2011 Freightliner M2-106/MedTec 172 HazTac ambulances. These will be the only two ambulances serving the CLHFD.

Tower Ladder 16 will be receiving a 2012 Ferrara Igniter II XD 95' Aerialscope tower ladder, one almost exactly identical to Quint 12's. Tower Ladder 16 will be the third tower serving the CLHFD.

Squad 15 will operate a 2012 Pierce Velocity/Crimson Fire custom rescue engine. This unit will be the only squad in the CLHFD.

Quint 14 will operate a 2012 Ferrara Igniter 4x4 77' rear-mount quint. This unit, along with Rescue 14 will serve the CLHFD as well as nearby Naval Air Station Foster Lake.

Paramedic Engine 16's apparatus will be a 2012 Ferrara Igniter II XD/Crimson Fire custom built rescue engine.

Engine 12 will receive a 2012 Ferrara Igniter II XD rescue engine identical to Engine 17's unit.

Rescue 14 will operate a 2011 Ford F-450 Super Duty/Crimson Fire custom mini-pumper. Rescue 14 will serve the CLHFD as well as NAS Foster Lake alongside Quint 14. *Note: design credit goes to Bob K. of the LTFD. Thanks Bob for allowing me to use your Quick Attack 6 Design!

Quoting Brian Stanis now i have to ask, especially with the purchasing part of ldd shutting down in january, how do you do this up loading to brickstore and how does this money saving process work? lol if anyone could give me a play by play that would be great.
If you want, send me your email address and I'll give you a step by step. It was a bit complicated for me in the beginning, but I've pretty much gotten the hang of it.

Quoting Middlebrick Fire Use LDD to design your rigs, then export the file to Brickstore to generate your part list. It will take a little while but after you're done upload the part list to a wanted list on BrickLink. You'll get all the parts you need, and save about 60-80% typically on orders.
Thanks for the info! I downloaded the software, and it took me awhile to figure out how to use it but I think I've got it now. I'll be interested to see how much money I save by doing it this way. Honestly right now anything sounds better than $1100. LOL

Quoting Christian Collins Hey Nick, is that just a trailer hitch on the front of the Quint's bumper, or does that serve some other purpose?
It's actually a rescue A-Frame, used in ropes rescues and winch operations. I've seen several pictures of equipment like this mounted on Canadian fire apparatus. I've done some searching, and the only example so far that I can find is Edmonton, Alberta's Heavy Rescue. http://www.svitrucks.com/apparatusdetails.asp?apparatusid=311

Wanted bricks does a fantastic job of turning LDD files into Bricklink exports, and it understands nearly all of the universe bricks,

Quoting James Kontoules Great work, Nick! All of the units have an amazing amount of detail and are very well-built. Those Medics better have AEDs for when you get your bill! I have one question though, are all those doors available with the new LDD update or are you using LDD Universe?
Just about all of the pieces I used for these rigs are available through LDD with the exception of the red shutter doors and some technic pieces for the Aerialscope tower on Tower Ladder 16 as well as the doors on Rescue 14. Those pieces I'm ordering through bricklink. On a side note, does anyone know if it's possible to create a parts list on LDD? Or does the software only allow you to create building guides?

That is allot of trucks! must be around $1000-$1500(maybe thats to much), but ordering from bricklink save you a ton of money, I built my engine 1 with just $30, and so far Engine 9 is 80% with just $16 on it! But I am glad that LDD will still be up! -Paulo R.
