XX-a series, "Iolas" . LDD
inspired by the Achilles 2 by LTE CEO of MMWI
About this creation

EDIT 3

I've made some more changes, beefed up the chest area again, extended the head forward to give a better field of vision. Added a ancient greeco/roman style head plume and a new sword and energy shield generator.

I'm calling this version XX-a3 Iolas 3 (pronounced E-Oh-Las)

EDIT 2

I've beefed up to upper body slightly, repositioned the head and added some fire power.

I'm calling this version XX-a2 Iolas 2

Edit

Added a few extra shots to show the detail on the back, a few extra poses and to demonstrate the retooled shoulders.

plus 4 images showing a size comparison to the achilles 1.5, the original and to my standard cyberagent model, plus a minifig.

Ok, I had a lot of fun working on the achilles update and fell in love with the general concept and shape. Lots of elements are similar to my CyberAgent designs (mostly due to the t-bar joints) so I thought I'd have a go at creating something entirely from scratch using the same basic concept.

The Iolas is a sword wielding mecha designed for speed and agility, it features shoulder mounted rifles and a large plasma broadsword.

Iolas is named after the companion of Hercules, a youth who travelled with the hero in many of his adventures. In the 90's TV version Iolas was Hercules' childhood friend, however the more common classical Iolas is much younger.

Because of this classical interpretation, I made the Iolas mecha quite sleak, to represent youth, and gave him a sword to tie in with his role as a classical hero, though it was mostly because I love designing melee weapons for my mecha.

I don't do stats for my mecha as I'm not into role play and such, but if anyone wants to have a go feel free.

Note, he does stand quite a bit taller than the achilles, mostly due to the elongated torso section and more upright stance.

To come (hopefully if I find time) the MUCH beefier Hercules/Heracles and maybe a Iolas II variant.

Quoting LTE CEO of MMWI I really like the updated version too... But you really need to post the LDD file. I would LOVE to download this mech.
I've now included the LDD file. The first picture now shows everything that comes on the file. Be warned, some weapons are difficult to place, the swords are a little tricky.

Quoting LTE CEO of MMWI Great job on this! The articulation is PERFECT. Amazing. Personally, I prefer to give my mechs long range weapons, but that's all I have to say in regard to criticism on this mech. Great job!
I've added a few ranged weapons now including missile racks, rifles and lasers. I'm playing with some more ideas to add. What I want to avoid is over loading him with heavy weapons as the whole point was that he was agile, fast and versatile. The Heracles will probably be much heavier armed.
