About this creation
My little middle-weight entry for the Spinning Top Contest 2011. It has roughly 36 pieces, if I counted correctly.See those 'claws' it has around the center? I made them open up by centrifugal force and fold back in with rubber bands, when the spinning stops. The trick requires a bit polishing, but worked pretty well for a structure this small.
Top to bottom, here's ye' proof that it actually spins! Notice also the opened claws. So yeah, that's it. Only 3 pictures, not so much to show. I hope you liked this and leave some comments and rates in the section below :]

Awesome! The the closing claws must make it spin for a long time!
On that I can comment, that it doesn't have enough weight at the bottom to hold balance, so it can spin several seconds, but not too long. |

Cool. The idea of the openning claws is so cool. It's just cool, you know? Cool. Hey, you know what's cool about this? It's cool! Okay, I'll be more serious. It looks quite lethal. Did I mension that it's cool? |

Nice, you beat me to the whole centrifugal spin thing, I was working on that. Hehe, centrifugal. If you don't want to get into an epic rage fight with any scientists, I suggest you correct it to centripetal, because centrifugal is an imaginary force. I myself am not a centripetal nazi, but just giving you a heads up my Physics teacher routinely she gets in arguments with burly drag racers over this :D |
