An infantry drop ship built in the Spyrius theme!
About this creation
This dropship is heavily utilized by the Spyrius as their main infantry carrier. It features VTOL capabilities for high maneuverability in combat situations. It carries a small land rover with ground to air missiles to provide additional cover. There are 4 infantrymen on board, as well as a Spyrius tactical commander. Finally, the ship carries a prison pod in the rear where POW's can be transported back to the Spyrius homeworld for interrogation.
Close up view of the cockpit. The dropship has one pilot.
The main cannons. I used 2 transparent canopies to build the cockpit, I like how it came out and the extra visibility means the pilot can see the ground as well.
Another view of the cannons.
The pilot in his seat. The mustache gave him the nickname "Magnum"...
The guns can rotate up and down - this is useful when the ship is hovering in VTOL mode.
The engines on the side can rotate to support the ship in VTOL mode.
A rear view, where you can see the prison pod - more on this later...
This is one of my first MOCs that feature retractable landing gear. Although I experimented with various designs, the landing gear is still a little unstable, so a slight push will cause the ship to topple over.
A view of the side hatch...
I copied the retractable ramp design from a MOC by Dan Jassim - one of my favorite builders, by the way!
Ramp fully extended and lowered.
The airlock door is opening...
...and inside we have a little vehicle!
The car descending down the ramp. It carries 2 ground-to-air missiles, to shoot down those pesky Unitron fighters during confrontations.
Ready to blow things up!
Let's peak inside...
4 Spyrius soldiers sit in the back, while a Spyrius Commander sits in the front, monitoring the action.
Close up view of the commander.
The 4 infantrymen sharing their favorite war stories. Or perhaps they're discussing Kim Kardashian's 72 day marriage - who knows?
"To arms!"
"Yeehaa!"
Careful where you point that thing...
The prison pod is stored in the rear of the ship, and is used to transport POWs back to the Spyrius homeworld.
The pod removed. The 2 cabinets are used to store additional items - helmets, airtanks, etc.
Two Spyrius soldiers guarding the prisoner...
"Help! I'm trapped..."
Looks like a Unitron commander is the unlucky victim...
The Unitron commander is taken prisoner. He will be subjected to various "creative" interrogation techniques, until he sings like a bird...
Ok, here's a top view of the ship.
Front view. Looks pretty menacing, eh?
Rear view.
Thanks for looking!
