B17G Flying Fortress.
B17G Flying Fortress. A tribute to the men of the 388th BG. Station 136, Knettishall England 1942-1945.
About this creation

The major issue in my opinion with every other model of the Flying Fortress that I've ever seen built out of Lego, has been the builder's use of a single round canopy/windscreen piece for the nose of the plane. The nose of a B17 is not round, this is the place I chose to start my MOC.
Although I know others have used custom plated/painted parts on such models, I chose light blueish grey as the main colour for my model, both to enable me to use all stock available Lego parts, and for cost reasons.
My reasons for doing this model are simple, I live in rural East Anglia in England, directly opposite the remains of one of the USAAF's bomber bases. Although there is little remaining now, 70 years ago the area was very different with 3000 men in the vicinity.
This model is a small tribute built in memorial to those that never went back to their families.

Quoting Nick Barrett Beautiful. You see lots of fighters, but not many bombers... a shame; my grandfather was in bomber command - Lancasters I think, so this has a special significance for me. Thanks for sharing.
Thankyou Nick. What we need now is for you to build one of your fully studded models of a Lancaster. You do some amazing replicas of the most curved vehicles. All with flat plates and bricks. I just don't know how you do it.
