Monoshock dirtbike (modification to 8838, mark two!)
My second modification of the Technic motorcycle 8838, this time with twin headlamps and a single rear shock absorber. As per usual, built entirely with parts no later than 1994.
About this creation

Close up of rear suspension, showing lower mounting of short shock absorber. An old one has been used here, however one of the newer ones with a more powerful spring as per the rear suspension from the sportsbike 8051 may work better in this arrangement; the rear suspension is just a touch too soft using the spring deployed here.
Mounting the saddle on this bike proved a headache, due to upper mounting of shock occupying the old front mounting point of the angled saddle, and the need to retain clearance between the saddle and the tyre when the suspension was bottomed out. The solution meant the loss of the rear mudguard, unfortunately.
A brace built of bricks is located behind the vertical beams, with overhang slope bricks to clear the drive chain at the bottom, and roof slope bricks above these to allow the rear shock absorber to clear in the "V" created between them.

Top view showing mounting of upper part of rear spring.

Further additions include - front indicators and left hand exhaust in this shot....

....and rear indicators, slightly modified tail, right hand exhaust, and brake calipers front and rear. Exhaust pipes are made from cylindrical bricks used to construct exhaust pipes in diggers and suchlike in Lego Town range.

Big improvement on the original. I love the exhaust system, dual haedlights and brake calipers - they really make it!

I like it, it reminds me of an 80's enduro, like the exhausts too. Chris

Quoting kurt Soares Nicely done Daniel! I prefer this mod of the 8838! The monoshock is cleverly done, and looks really well! It reminds me the swing arm and monoshock of an Yamaha DT 50. :D I also prefer this front! Looks like a Dakar Bike! ;) And would look really well in my collection next to the Wasp Bike :D
Your Wasp Bike was in my mind when I made this mod; the colours do lend a comparison.
