I'm giving the set to my nephew next week for Thanksgiving and the two of us are going to have a "LEGO-palooza buildoff" according to him.

I am hugely impressed with the MBA kit, but I only have the first one. It seems that this is the first time that LEGO is really making an effort to actually teach many advanced building techniques rather than simply using them in the building instructions without an explanation of the possibilities they open up. The whole thing is great from the quality printed book to the online experience. My only complaint is that there are a few pieces included in the set that exist in one's or three's rather than in even numbers, making it difficult sometimes to accomplish an idea if you are making a symmetrical creation such as the spaceships for this set. Had TLG added just three or four more very tiny pieces to the parts list, it would make a bigger difference than one might think.

Well, I kind of see MBA as Creator sets with thicker manuals. (instructions for 3 models, like a Creator.) I've been building with Lego for 35 ish years, and I feel that these sets have actually taught me ways to build better! I also really love the way the color scheme matches for each of the three levels. So when I get the third level 1 set, It'll be like having 1 huge Creator set! (which I've always loved.)

Nice to see an alternate from you again! MBA is not exactly the same as Creator sets, but the concept is very similar, so I allow it in the group. You have made a nice little spaceship/ jet out of this set. What's your experience so far with the MBA concept?
