I've finally made my dad's car! This is my second and final entry to the contest "Dan the Man's 5th Car Contest: Modern Rubbish."
About this creation
Earlier this year, my dad asked me to build his car, a 2000 Mazda MPV LX. However, as many of you know, I'm mainly build Italian supercars, such as my Pagani Zonda S Roadster. So I wasn't sure how hard it would be to build it as I'm not used to building this type of car, so I wasn't planning on even building it this year. But in September I accepted his offer that if I could finish it by early November, he would help me out a bit with Bricklink orders. However, since he paid for some of the Lego parts, he claims it's now his! My dad claims I sold it to him! And for $20 too!!
The overall view of the minivan. Please notice the car's skirts...
Opening Parts
The opening parts were really hard to build, especially those sliding doors!
Everything is open.
The V6 engine.
The interior. It has enough seats for the whole family to come along - with extra space too (there are seats for seven)!
The roof.
The real one:

I'll add more pictures (including WIP pictures) of this MOC to Picasa soon, so when I do, I'll add a link of it to this page.
Great representation of the real thing! You've done very well here, because I know it can be tougher to build ordinary cars like Mazdas and such than it is to build sporty supercars. This creation could be part of Lego's model team series - it's awesome! :-)
really good 5/5, one question how many cars do you have in one piece? Because on your picture from your car collection i dont see the pagani or the enzo

I currently have seven cars in one piece; the five in the picture and two that I'm still building (that's why the two aren't in the picture). Both my Pagani and my Enzo have been dismantled. How many cars can you keep together? -LB Jr.
Kind of fun to see a more common vehicle done in Lego. It's usually the sports cars that get all the glory. Some solid work, too! I particularly like the appraoch you used for the overhead rack. Nicely done!
It looks really close to the real thing! I like the way how the doors open. 5/5 And thanks for the comment on my Bora! But I don't think that I'm going to make my Bora in real bricks. Because I'm going to make my new 70' Chevelle in real bricks! No LDD anymore! from now on... :)

Wow! It is really fantastic. I really enjoy looking at all the details of your latest project, by far the most challenging for you. Great Job, Lego Master!
Can't wait to see what you will build next!
BTW: Love the video.

I will be posting a McLaren MP4/5B soon, and I'm working on a Lancia Stratos HF Rally Car - about 90% finished right now.

GREAT!!!! Looks very detailed to the real-life model! You did a good job on the shape and engine! I'm very interested in how you did those slide doors? :)

Oh yes another great build from you. The sliding doors and interior are very well built. My favourite bit is the front. Excellent job all around. Good idea Tomaso - I think the camper would be an excellent 'swap'. I've started the unimog, it's going to take a long time to build as I only get an hour or two per building session. Good luck with your dad :).
Thanks! I doubt my dad would accept that sort of swap...haha. :) Now I really want to build my mom's car, but I if my dad only gave me $20, I don't think I'd get that much from my mom. I'd probably have to pay HER $20...BTW, my dad was initially on going to give me $10, so I got lucky. ;)

Ridiculously awesome minivan! Looks spot on ( not great , I mean it IS a minivan =P) and accurate. Maybe show your dad the Lego catalog so he gets a better idea of what these things cost. Or better yet, show him all our baffled comments saying "Only 20 dollars???"
This is a genuinely excellent model - I think the best you've made so far. It looks dead accurate, and the interior (which is what cars like this are all about) is superb. Because most of LEGO's new parts are designed for supercars I think cars like this are actually harder to build. 10/10 Perfect score
Great work on this family van. I like the shape and the details, especially the engine. Clever solution for the rear doors, even if they're not sliding ;-). But I have to admit, I have no idea how to make a real sliding door with LEGO, either. That's a really cool model. Maybe you can convince your dad to trade it for a LEGO set like the 10221 Executor :-)).

Well done LB! This is great, love the way you got the shape of the front lights and now I know why you wanted all that White Lego lol. Your dad must be kidding if he thinks he can have this for $20 times that by 10 and he would be a little closer. Say you'll trade it for a camper
Van or maybe try a unimog ;) Joe and I have just bought one each :-D. Very well done with this it really is very well built.
This thing is SO life like! Considering your comfort zone of supercars, it seems as if a family sedan was quite fun for you (sarcasm)! The engine is superb, and the interior is very well done. The opening doors, hatches, and compartments make this like a model. Just add some miniland scale brick-built figures and this would be very realistic! Good luck in the contest, you have some VERY strong competition. Best of luck my friend, you have just gotten added as a favorite builder by another person. Cheers! - KP
