Ambush Mk.II
Stayed up 'till 5AM on this. Who would've thought 8 studs of stuff would be so much work?
About this creation
Somebody who'd picked 30x10 studs worth of tiles off with his fingernail at least three times in the last few days, that's who.

A chap mentioned on the previous iteration of this that it might be nice if the Spinne GMBH factory had a roof that wasn't completely flat and boring.

Somehow I don't think this is quite what he had in mind, but eh.

Methinks 'tis a tad more dynamic with these modifications.

Aand you still can't properly see the inside floors of that section of the building. Oh well.

While I was putting it together, it occured to me that the layout of that place was a bit.. strange. Found an explanation/excuse, though: it seems it's now the central industrial facility of the mecha arm of a large manufacturing group; as such, half the building is given over to R&D, administration, etcetera, and the other half is manufacturing.

See that "little" double door? Vehicle access, for employees, cargo trucks, etcetera. Presumably it'd lead to an underground carpark.

That red edged pad in the center of the building is a landing platform that doubles as a lift.

Reason for so few windows: security. You can bug a room by shining a laser on the window, which vibrates when sound hits it. No windows = much less chance of a leak.

Plus, it discourages the goons from Central, who have a nice airy place to live in in the company's headquarters just across the road.

Spiderquadmecha!

There's three general classes of quad mechae; "spider", like this one, which tend to be low to the ground and relatively small, "lizard", which I haven't done any of, which I can't see as having any kind of advantage, and "horse", like that Russian one in that history moc of mine, which'd tend to be bigger and heavier than the other types.

Spinne GMBH, in a totally surprising move that could never be predicted by their name, only manufacture the spider type.

That particular one has been hijacked and hastily painted red by whatstheirfaces.

The entire city was quickly evacuated beforehand, since nobody wants to be anywhere near a mecha cityfight if they can help it.

This picture should illustrate why quite handily.

"Now, witness the power of this fully armed and operational Mining Spider!"

Here's how I figured manufacturing as working:
Pieces of the mecha model in question are assembled. Then, they're shoved along to the appropriate platform here, at which point they are assembled by the crane operator and a band of merry grease-monkeys with a cherry picker. I'd imagine it as being a rather quick process, and it'd take up a lot less room than a more conventional assembly-line process.

Need more rather more competent labour, though.

That grille and protruding fiddly-whatsit up top is a walkway leading over the construction bay. There's doors at the bottom, but, well, the bright red "walk here during work hours and your life is forfeit" markings are there for a reason.

Speaking of reasons, here's the one why I did this instead of letting the half-done one stay where it is:
This is, currently, the best single moc I have made to date. Being able to say "my best moc is incomplete but I posted it anyway because lolol I'm hella lazy" wouldn't exactly do wonders for my dignity.

Speaking of mocs, I should probably get back to work on the MOCIA, too.

(That bit about the hella lazy? 'Tis true. Most assuredly, 'tis true.)

Quoting Someone You Don't Know… "Mining Spider?" As in Kaiser Vlad's last-ditch effort to retrive the staff of Qa-Len? LOL! Amazing micro-scale, and the detail is superb! But, who's ambushing who? Well, it's a mecha battle, I suppose it doesn't matter! Keep up the good work!
Yup. I didn't really think anyone'd get the reference; it's pretty obscure. Well, the ambushing: it seemed pretty clear to me that it was obvious! The reds are ambushing the greys who are ambushing the reds who are ambushing the greys and so on and so forth for the next thousand years. Multi-way ambushes aside, the greys'd probably win; they have a seventy tonne weight advantage.

Wow, didn't even realize in was microscale till I got in here..That's super cool! There's so much going on that you didn't need to do or perhaps most wouldn't think to do, you did it and it really pays off. Wish I had seen it earlier. Great stuff.

I don't often say "yowza," but... Yowza. I'm digging the simple, highly-effective micro-scale mechs. That would be cool enough, btuthe details you put intothe environment, the rrubble and trees, factory and shattered buildings, bring the whole thing to life. My favorite bit is torn between the action-pose of the running mech, turning the corner and the big guy plowing through the white building (office, bank?). STOMPA STOMPA!

Wow, this quite nice! The grey mech wading through the white building, the detailed mech factory, the variety of mechs, it all comes together quite nicely! Reminds me of the MechWarrior and MechAssault games!

Not really, it just comes while I build.

Quoting Deus Otiosus What was that part with best MOC to date about? It's pretty neat, I guess.
Simply that it's the moc I'm most satisfied with, at this point. Everything in it fits well.
