The gates of Moria. This is my entry to The Great Lord of the Rings Contest and was based on the movie. It shows the attack of the Watcher in the Water on the unsuspecting fellowship as they venture into the deep places of the earth. This is on a 32x32 base and was very fun to make. As room was limited, i only included the most important figs, Frodo, Pippin and Gandalf. The door was by far the hardest to make but i think it came out alright. The main picture shows the kraken holding frodo up and its many other tentacles reaching out. This is my first time using the rock face technique so please dont rate me to hard on that, i tried. Finally, the doors can be opened and i guess ill stop rambling and let the pics do the talking.

Great work!(ACCURACY TO BOOK OR MOVIE) - Looks very simliar, and I love the watcher of the water. You might've added some trans-clears to the water near the shore to simulate motion and sloshing waves: 24/30;(MINIFIGS) - I like Frodo and Gandalf, and Pippin's hair is Ok, but if your are going to go the orange route it needs to be longer: 14/20;(ORIGINALITY) - Sweet! Best brick-built Doors of Durin I have ever seen: 10/10;(CREATIVITY/TECHNIQUE) - As I said, the best brick-built doors ever, and I like the one tree and the Watcher of the Water. Again, some trans clears might've been nice to simulate a frozen moment in time: 29/35;(PICTURE QUALITY) - Good, but not great: 4/5; TOTAL: [81/100] Great work! |

Accuracy: Very accurate to the movie, although the other members of the Fellowship are missing and there is only one tree 18/30 Minifigs: Gandalf is the only minifig, but he is great, though 17/20 Originality: I never thought that someone would make this difficult, but very important and epic scene. Excellent! 10/10 Creativity: 29/35 Picture Quality: 5/5 Total 79/100

I agree that Pippin's hair is light but it is not red and not light enough for the soccer player hair. |

Also not to totally disagree with Mark, but Pippin's hair in the movie is so light brown it is almost the color of the bricks in the Battle of Alamut. Or the hair color of the Series 4 Soccer Player if you want to be more specific. Not quite ORANGE, but like a quazi brown/orange. like the color of ancient pottery. But now to William: great job man! I will judge it fully in a bit! |

OK here we go. Accuracy: 20/30 this is very good but you only have three minifigs Also it's not necessarily a Kraken but that doesn't effect your score. Minifigs: I can't see Pippin very well but I can see that he has red hair and Pippin's hair is brown. Also the torso you have on Frodo doesn't look like a hobbit torso. 10/20 Originality: Your scene is very original and only a few people (I being one of them) have made this scene accurately: 10/10 Creativity: 25/35 Photos: I can't see some of the details very well though the pictures are very clear. 4/5
Not that im arguing with the scoring but i just wanted to clarify somethings. First, with pippins hair, i dont have brown hair and i dont even though if lego makes it so that is why it is orange. Plus in the movie, it looked rather lightish brown almost orange. Next for frodo, it is an armor body and i wanted to represent his mithril armor. Im not sure what you mean about the kraken but thats fine. Lastly i didnt include all the minifgs because, as in the movie, it would be very crowded and i wanted to show off the rock-work, but i can add a pic with the whole fellowship if thats a problem. Thanks again for the comment.

Nice dio! I love the rocks! But why is there only one tree?
I know there are supposed to be two trees but as i wanted so show my rock-work, i decided, using my artistic judgement, to not put the second tree. |
