Heckler & Koch Mk23 SOCOM, a .45 caliber pistol, with LAM and silencer. Used in Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Soild: Twin Snakes.
About this creation
This is a Heckler & Koch Mk23 "SOCOM" (or USSOCOM), a .45-caliber handgun.
Many may recognize this gun from its use in the game Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes (Playstation and Gamecube respectively). I mention this because it was a MGS-fanboy friend of mine that challenged me to make one. In the games, an attached LAM (laser aiming module) and silencer lent the SOCOM its familiar shape in the item window, and I have included an attachable LAM and silencer on this model.
Click here for a few reference pictures.
The diagonal orientation of normal Legos to make the grip is what gives the rest of the gun its shape, and also allows for an actual fillable magazine to enter. However, this creates a design flaw that makes a gaping hole in the side of the gun, so I covered it with a single panel.
I tried to get the slide to slide back normally in many ways, including springs, bands, and magnets. There is simply not enough room left for these methods to allow the slide to move back fully!
Features:
-Moving slide: Must be moved both ways manually. Assists the bullet in ejection.
-Bullet: The ejection slot is large enough to conceal a "spent cartridge" until the slide is pulled back, after which the casing is ejected.
-Magazine: Almost full size. Fillable with (albeit miniaturized) ammo. Ammo chamber can be replaced with a Lego weight for a more balanced feel.
-Silencer: Connects to outer barrel, actually has a barrel hole.
-LAM: Attachable "laser" with on/off flip switch and "indicator light" on right side, and adjustment knobs on the left side.
-Light Module: Another known Mk23 accessory. A black box with a reflective lens. On/off button and indicators on right side.
-Trigger and hammer: They move. Originally, I had it set up so that when you pulled the trigger, the hammer would come up. I scrapped that in favor of the ejecting bullet.
If anyone would like instructions, I will be happy to make them (however, be forewarned that a few special pieces are needed to make the entire gun!), but they may take a while to make, as many steps are taken to make it.

One of the best functional gun mocs i've ever seen, besides lawrence fetter's HK G36 AR, which can eject shells!!! To the gun, nice. Love the functionality, and tactical attachments, such as the LAM and SOCOM silencer, a working slide is also a great bonus, i'd be nice if you made more :) |

Pretty impressive build. I'd like to see what you can do with a machine gun. I like how you've added the silencer and laser sight. I try to do that with some of my guns too. This really makes me wish I could start building my arsenal. |
