Communication Station Iris
Here's something to look at while you wait for MO/MIT round 3 entries.
About this creation
So the Brothers Brick collaborative display at BrickCon this year was called Numereji 2421. The basic premise is that a single spaceship has crashed landed on a far away planet and the settlers must create new lives for themselves with just the parts of their ship and native resources. My contribution to the display was this comm tower, because I figure the first thing you would want to do if you are stranded is phone home. Attendees voted this the "best building" of the display. Thanks TBB and judges!

The whole module is 32x64 studs. Features include the actual tower at left, staff building at right, plaza in middle, and the left building is a storage depot. In actuality, the left building houses the motors and battery pack for the tower. The outside ring of panels rotates clockwise while the inner ring rotates counter-clockwise. See a short video of the mechanism here .

The various segments are supposed to look like they were ripped from the original ship, which is white.

While humans attempted to get certain things like energy sustainability right, Numereji is definitely not a utopian society ;)

The staff building. As per usual, my unhealthy infatuation with tri-lateral symmetry made its way into this MOC.

"A" is for _____.

The upper deck of the depot. This is where the sharpshooter hangs out.

The gear there is what controls the speed and direction of the tower and the hole is where the AC adaptor plugs in.

Squiddies work the basic security for the facility. However, Numereji rum decreases their effectiveness.

The original concept art for the dio; it was originally going to be another addition to my Neo Futuron universe but when they announced Numereji on TBB, I decided to adapt it.

The theme was a blast to build in and it sounds like they are going to do it again next year. If you enjoyed this or the concept, you should build in it! Thanks for looking!

Play well,
Alex/BrickFX

Fantastic work and great concept, love the tri symmetric tower, but I would have loved to see some alien plant life there too.

Great piece of work, Chief! Never seen that flat middle computer brick before, either. Wicked!

Wow, excellent! I saw a glimpse of this at BrickCon, but there were too many people oohing and aahing for me to get a good look. I love the hexagons, they are very futuristic looking.

Oh wow, excellent job Alex! Congrats on the nod, I bet that feels really awesome! The antenna is great, and the unruly minifigs really tie it together. And don't worry about me drying out....sober Heath is only sober for 8 more days! WOOT! Oh, and I didn't substitute drinking with anything worse than pr0n. :P
