Congratulations on the most popular MOC on the pages, by the way :)
Thank you Epic for your comment. Glad you liked it. It certainly was a wonderful ship to build and even better to see it appear in the new Blood and Chrome series of Battlestar Galactica. |

So I've seen this beauty before, but didn't comment on it. I think maybe I had to stew in it for a while before I said anything. First off, I want to feature this as I did you first McQuarrie build on My Pick of the Week, with your permission, of course. Ok. Now that we got that out of the way. This build is PHE-NOM-E-NAL! The shape has that "could really exist" look. As far as the shape is concerned, I especially like the front end. I would love to get a look at some of the techniques that you use to come off with these amazing shapes. The guns are just pure deadly. I like how you repeated so many elements throughout and giving the viewer a few looks at some exposed inner workings just leaves me smiling and shaking my head at the brilliance of it. The coloring is great. I favor the light bley/dark bley/dark red combo myself, but the dark red may be the most versatile color that LEGO offers next to the bleys. Great work, Garry. You are an inspiration to all of us AFOLs fresh out of our dark ages.
Thank you Tim for an overwhelming amount of praise. Please feel free to add any of my builds to your pick of the week, no need for permission from now on.I am still in many respects in Lego dark ages but bricking my way out with each challenge my builds put forth. Glad you liked it. Cheers |

WOW!! I hadn't even heard of you until today, now I see what I've been missing out on. I must have been in MOCO's when this was posted because I completely didn't see it and the timing is right. The colour scheme here is brilliant, the shape is well executed and those engines take the whole bakery and burn it up! This proves creations can still exceed 500 ratings, and its done it at a phenomenal rate of knots! Well done Garry! Consider me your newest fan, as short a time frame as it may be till the next fan comes along... ~Thoy
Thank you Thoy for your most impressive praise in every way. This was at the time the best ship I had attempted, in size and colour. Moving away from grays made it more desirable. Thank you again and keep up your brilliant work. |

Well, then I'll enjoy your ships... ~Cheers Thank you Marc.... A COMMENT from you makes it worth wild. It will soon become a pile of elements again. Compared to the next build it is rather small.
Thanks again and Cheers.

Hey Garry. I have seen a lot of great MOC's for the small 3 years I have visited this homepage. I must say that nothing beats Your creations. One thing is to build something out of imagination but to build after science fiction models is way more difficult, and You nail every time. The attention to details, scale, usage of correct parts and the realistic attempt is just not to describe. You must have spend loads on money to purchase all these parts or have a huge collection. Ever concidered to show them at one of Legos shows or some of all the community events there are? Thanks for using Lego and Your creative mind to build these wonderfull models. Thank you very much Soren for your outstanding praise and overwhelming and inspirational encouragement. Yes to both ... Extremely awesome build. I dont watch BG because i am 10 yrs old though.
One question:
How much did that thing cost in total including the sets you used?
Thank you Little Bricker for your Question.
I am unable to cost this beast as there are many years of collecting sets and purchasing individual parts in bulk in lots of 1000 or more for any of the builds I have created. This year alone I have probably spent in excess of $4000 on my Star wars collection and in extra parts. Not a cheap Hobby if you like them this big and detailed. If you look under the heading of Size Matters you can see two I have constructed this year. Thank you again for your Question it made me think. Happy building and keep up your magnificent creations. |

This build will stay around until I run out of Technic bricks. It is loaded with them. What I feel is missing is a zoomed out picture with real life background. As it is now it's hard to understand how big this thing realy is. Anyway, nice work.
Thank you for your comment DI)rogan. I put a skitt together called size matters To assist in getting a real life aspect of this model. I hope it helps you for a sense of scale. Cheerss |

Lee was the CG Supervisor who oversaw the construction of the digital model used in the series.
Thank you Eric ... I looked Lee up and I have been honored twice by two brilliant creative minds. I only have the Rubycon as my original design and concept ... made of lego ... I would like to build even larger models, I am restricted by space in this house and the over all weight of each build. You honor me still and I can only try to do your designs justice.

Wow this is an incredible work sir! The dark red/white really makes the whole thing stand out, and saves it from the monotony large bley ships can be prone to. One day I'll tackle a large scale SHIP (6-8') untill then I can just enjoy your creations!
Thank you Brothers Merz for your nice comments and I agree grey can be too bland at times a change of color made a difference. Cheers and Keep creating your amazing builds.

Hello Garry. Let me introduce myself, my name is Eric Chu and I was the concept artist/designer in charge of designing the Galactica and the Berzerk, among others. Just saw your model posted on Gizmodo and was very impressed! I've posted it on my Facebook for all my friends to see. Incredible! Thanks for making my day.
I am humbled to have the actual designer look at this creation.... I am truly Honored. I would love to see the other designs you have done in detail to try to create them too in lego.
I will eventually give the Galactica and Pegasus a go when I am confident enough to do them justice in lego. Thank you for passing on the message to MMM. CHEERS and thank you again

Glorious build! I'm not at all disappointed that you used wood and steel for support, because looking at the size of this, that seems like a pretty good strategy. Excellent work!
Thank you Cody. Using an alternative material was my last resort with this one. It wasted to many parts when it failed the first time. The inner timber anchors the steel that supports the lower engines but still flexes, creaks and groans when the vertical supports are removed from the bench to the engines. Cheers and keep up your great builds. |
