Legend speaks of a castle full of riches mounted high in the sky above the ocean.
To get to the castle is a perilous climb, and one not to be taken lightly as the "rock" it sits upon is slippery.
It sits on top of an octopus. That makes sense, right? The tides secede far enough for travelers to attempt the climb only once in every hundred years. Whether anyone has ever survived the venture no one knows.
RAWR!!!! Enter the unholy gates!
The path spirals around the Octopuses head.
One last RAWR!
Comments: Well all of the judges know that I'm taking a 30 day cool down on drinking, and yet somehow they give me the one category that I need LOTS of booze to compete in. Thanks a LOT guys! Not Stacy though, I know she fought valiantly to protect my fragile sober mind and was overpowered by the testosterone undoubtedly coming from Shifu the baconater. (LMAO get it....bacon ate r)
I checked some surrealist paintings and such and for whatever reason there is a LOT of animals doing odd things in them. I rolled with it, and this is what I came up with. Sobriety does not do me justice. :(
Sorry some of the pics go dark.....my camera was automatically changing settings on me. I think Amber dropped it in the bathtub or something like that. Why she's taking pics in there for her Facebook page is beyond me........
Well seeing as your my present opponent I thought I'd just comment and say well done! And also best of luck in the upcoming competition, may the best builder win! (But honestly I think you've got a few feet of skill in your favor. Nice build!)
I've done the sober stint thing before; it can be kinda rough, but it gets better after the first week. Just don't fill the void with something worse ;). As for the build, I enjoyed how you gradually revealed it in the presentation. The brick work and front window is also quite nice. Here's to raw sober creativity, brother.
@Thoy: I think you're thinking of the Discworld series, as the Wheel of Time (by Robert Jordan...which I am currently reading again) has nothing to do with giant octopi with castles on their heads. I do think Discworld could have one somewhere in its vast outer oceans, though. ;)
@Heath...great build. The microscale castle combined with the insane idea are a true win in my humble opinion. :D
I like it

Looking good Heath, 30 days from drinking eh? More power to ya! For a moment there I thought your inspiration had come from Terry Pratchets Wheel of Time series... ~Thoy
