My Entry to the 2011 MOColympics for round 2 under the Blue Bracket... "Blake Baer vs Josh B. in:
The MOC with No Name - In the spirit of the Spaghetti Western film genre, build a scene or story inspired by the time period of the late 19th century in the American West. DK"
So without further ado, I present to you 'Ye Olde Battle of Crapshoot'. Enjoy.
About this creation
Ye Olde Blake Baer's entry: BAM!
Ye Olde MOColympics homepage: BANG!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our story takes place in a lovely town set deep in the heart of the old west...
No, not that town.
Our town is up on a very attractive hill just beyond this unsightly town shown here...
Here we are. I present to you Ye Old Town of Craphoot. But wait a second. There be a battle wagin' all up in this joint!
Awww, snap! It appears a gang of no-good, dirty-rotten, yellow-bellied, pig-stealin', butt-scratchin', lily-livered, scally-waggin', ugly-faced outlaws be causin' a dag gum riot!
Ah, that no good vermin Drunken Dave is prolly causin' this here ruckus. Nah, he's not sober 'nuff to cause this...
Maybe ol' Squattin' Sam be startin' the fight. Nah, he can't even speak. Got none of 'em teeth. Covers it up with his dirty ol' beard, but I know this here truth...
Ah-ha! Sharpshootin' Larry must be the culprit. But he's too dumb to do anything but shoot.
Maybe this crazy midget? Nah...
Ah-ha! It's the Injun-Mexican-Midget known in his tribe as 'Tree Stump'. He's the brains of this here operation!
Uh-oh! Looks like they been busted outta jail!
And they took a prisoner! Good 'ol Sheriff Connery'll save 'im!
And the battle begins!
From here it's just some overview pics. I gotta get this in the group now, though! Ah, crap!
Have a darn good day!
I feel sorry, that you got Blake as an opponent. I think, if it was anyone else, you would definitely win. Awesome build dude. |
Great build and the humour was excellent! Too bad you were against Mr. Baer, still, this is a worthy entry! |
Everybody knows I enjoy a good laugh and this was a great laugh - love that intro! Not to sell the build short though, some nice details and good construction make it spot-on for the category. Unlucky on not advancing, but great job. |
Thanks everyone for the kind comments. My main goal was not to win here (I'm against Blake Baer after all), but to at least make someone laugh, and I'm glad I did :) Thanks again! |
Yet another epic, early round battle that, unfortunately, could only have one winner. I too enjoyed the intro and your scene is full of awesome details. Great effort, better luck next year!~H |
Josh, This was one of the categories I was most excited about and you did not disappoint! First, I LOVED the intro to your MOC and town. That got the biggest laugh of the round out of me. Your build is VERY good and true to the category. I'm going to award my vote to Mr. Baer however because I really like the way he went off the grid and challenged himself to try exciting angles. Thank you so much for sharing your talent. ~Dave |
Excellent entry, Partner! Lots of action and details, but my vote's with your opponent. But really, these would both be great as a new theme. |
Oh, another close one. Nice work, Josh. BUT...don't ya just hate that...I'm going with Blake on this one. You guys both did a terrific job with color, composition, texture, and even things like action and presentation. For me it came down to Blake's complexity. I think he's got ya there, just a bit. Nevertheless, a terrific entry here, and thanks for bringing it in round 2. Well done. |
This is great! I've said it before and I'll say it again, I LOVE this contest! So many great ideas and really clever mocs to inspire us all. This is so full of character and fun. Great design on the wagon and the decrepit look of the building. Both Blake's and your great mocs have made me want to try out western! It looks like a great way to have some real fun. Good luck! |
Josh, you seriously had me scared there. Awesome work though, and best of luck with the judges. (BTW if I knew I was giving you a picture just so you could call it "unsightly" I'm not sure I would've! ;)
Haha, thanks for the comment, Mr. Baer. Good luck in Round 3. I don't intend to go on with this entry, but I hope it gets a good 'groin shot' in ;) |
