MocOlympics Round 2
Theme: Only 2 Colors
About this creation
I guess I lost the round. At least I know I can throw together an awesome MOC in about 4 hours with no planning.
Here it is. I'm surprised I could even finish it. The theme was Only 2 Colors. My opponent Mihai Marius Mihu as well as his awesome MOCs can be found by clicking on his name. I was at a loss when I read the theme. Only two colors. Hmm... what to do. Then it hit me, like a ton of bricks, I had no clue!
So I sat down and starting holding unique shapes of different colors, rotating them and picturing what they could become. Finally I saw the shape of an armored carapace (bug exoskeleton). Ok then, mecha-bug it is. I knew I would not be able to compete with Mihai Marius Mihu on the architecture side of MOC building so I went with something familiar. Sci-fi.
The Story goes.
A race of super intelligent bugs decides to build a massive anatomically incorrect version of themselves. It turns out the engineers couldn't figure out how to make six legs work in unison. After an army of these 80' bughemoths were constructed they began their campaign of terror by squashing every person in their path. Months after the initial assault the bugs were made victorious and decommissioned the majority of their bughemoths, only leaving a few to patrol the waste lands left in the desolation of their attack.

Unlucky on not advancing, this is a really nice design and brave decision to use orange due to the limited parts in that colour. Good job. |

Very, very nice design. The legs and overall shape greatly compliment each other. And the colors are well chosen. Grey and orange always go good together. Fantastic design! ^Blub^ |

A very cool MOC! Some interesting orange pieces I do not have in my collection (but then come to think of it, my collection is just basically all-black. XD) |

I guess that means I have to go back to being a no name moc builder. boohoo. Thanks for hosting this contest, next time I might get a theme more suited to my building style. |

You did a really good job in a difficult category, no shame in your loss. I really dig the Bughemoth and city in ruins was a good idea. Better luck next year!~H |

I'm sorry, Sean, but my vote goes to your opponent. You did a really, really good job here, especially with the design of the bughemoth itself. What is helpful in other MOCs, is a problem in this one: The vig base. With just 2 colours allowed, it is complicated to find out what belongs to the bughemoth and what to the ground. Without the base and a bit more greebling on the bughemoth instead, I'd have liked it better. |

Sean, this is a GREAT walker! It was a REALLY close call for me but my vote went to Mihai. But it's REALLY hard to choose so good luck with the other judges! ~ Chris. |

It looks really good. Is it standing above a city?
A wrecked husk of a city. |
