MocOlympics round 2 Donovan Mitchell vs The Legohaulic
Mardi Gras Float/Krewe - What’s your version of a float that could be seen traveling through a Mardi Gras parade in New Orleans?

The Legohaulic

Yar, I decided to create a piratey float... a dead piratey float.
There's not really much for me to describe here; it's kinda self explanatory.
It's a Mardi Gras float with a shipwreck or sunken theme. The pirates on board are all undead with creepy glowing red eyes. The pirate captain's undead hands still fruitlessly cling to the ship's wheel even though it is not even connected to the float's steering. In the front broken section is a not undead, still very dead imperial guard.

Can undead even become drunk? I really like that head, it has a lot of expression for a skeleton.

A crew photo and skewed hull boards

Here is an ugly WIP pic of the hull construction. I have used this technique before and I wanted to try it again.

Unlucky on not advancing. You were against some tough opposition here but produced a fun build with some very clever techniques and nice details. Well done!

A fun choice for the category. Like DK mentioned, some additional details and crew members might have been fun. But this is still a really nice build, with a solid presentation. I must say I particularly liked the way you handled the sides of the ship, with the uneven tiling - nice effect. Sorry to see ya go, but a nice way to sail off into the sunset!

Quoting Gabriel Thomson Nice entry! The WIP pic of the hull technique is really intruiging, i'll have to try that sometime. (with appropriate credit to you, of course!)
It's not necessary to give me any credit. No one has any claim to a connection of pieces; It is the end result that must not be plagiarized.

An excellent entry, you really captured the feel of a float; I love the hull you achieved. No shame in your loss, you fought a good fight. Better luck next year!~H

Like the esteemed Mr Kaleta said, more minifig, especially female ones- it's Mardi Gras for goodness sake!

Quoting Dave Kaleta Mr. Mitchell, I really liked your idea, and this one the one category I was most looking forward to seeing. I would have liked to see you add more piratey minifigs to flesh out the krewe. My vote went to your opponent. ~Dave
Not only do I lack any more red-eyed skeletal heads, but also usable piratey torsos. I chose from the piratey torsos I possessed the ones with the least skin showing.

I like this, it really has the resemblance of a shipwreck float! Setting it up on a trailer getting towed is excellent detailing too. Very imaginative. ~Thoy
