MOColympics round 2 - Deus Otiosus /vs/ Dave Sterling
Dave Sterling vs Deus Otiosus in: Homophones What happens when a construction worker confuses the words “raise” and “raze”? How is a “navel” armada different from a “naval” armada? In this category we’re after humorous builds that make use of a homonym (a pair of words that sound alike, but have different meanings). A quick Google search or a glance through a grade-school grammar guide is all the inspiration you should need. It’s up to you to decide what homonym you’d like to use and how you’d like to incorporate it into your build. Laughter is the number one priority!
About this creation
Dave Sterling
MOColympics

This is a tale of desperation, suicidal thoughts, hope and faith, having fun with building and a moderately funny joke.

I was thinking of what to build (the first idea was sheet or peace (there was a funny three pannel political joke about that one (but there are croatian people on MOCpages and I don't want to insult them (I'll stay at cold comments, national discrimination is not something for this page (that would be very harmful for the popularity of MOCpages (wich is great (as far as I know (and I know a lot (if I may say say so myself)))))))), and this idea seemed like the best one. I was building it for days, each part took one to two days (and I took some days off (I won't be annoying you with these bracket any more (except for this one (and this last one))) to complete, and I was personaly happy with most of the results.

I would like to thank the judges for rating me relatively low in the first round, if it weren't for them, I would never had reignited my smoldering, and now searing hot, love for LEGO. Secondly, I would like to thank my sister for second opinions on all of the creations, without her they would probably all be only semi-complete. And the last I have to thank is me, for being so intelligent, imaginative and sexually attractive.

While building these creations, the next song was on my most listened list. Therion rocks.

Find the cat and the crystal that is the only one of its colour!

Once upon a warm september evening...

Deus Otiosus:
Looks like a good day for it...

Deus Otiosus:
It's pointless anyways. Even green bracket can't save me form the obliderationg power of the Dave... I mean, if I was a Dave... Stupid category... And Magma got microscale. Yay.

Deus Otiosus:
In front of me is death's safety and no-Dave-ness, and behind me there are only defeat and yes-Dave-ness... The choice is obvious.

Leg GODt:
Dues!

Desu Otiosus:
Deus.

Leg GODt:
Whatever. I have come here to rescue you from your irrational decision! I carry the four colours of LEGO, the four paths of building, the four steps of MOCcing - I am Leg GODt, the ultimate and surpreme ruler of all things ABS! And since you build so much, you practically are a big piece of talking (too much talking, at that) ABS. Do not jump!

Deus Otiosus:
Explain your arguments. What do I still have in this world? MOColympics are my life, my passion, my goal.

Leg GODt:
They are your life and goal, but not your passion. You have no passion (except your passionate hate for all things smoker). Remember what LEGO is all about!

Deus Otiosus:
Winning and proving people wrong?

Leg GODt:
No, Dues...

Dues Otiosus:
Deus.

Leg GODt:
Whatever. LEGO is about fun! Enjoying your builds! It's not about the likes, not even about Tower Bridge (although those tan slopes are nice), you only post to spread your fun to others. Fire bursts out from a spark, and you don't give one for the masses to burn.

Deus Otiosus:
I do like burning people...

Deus Otiosus:
So...

Leg GODt:
Yeah...

Leg GODt:
Wanna hear a joke?

Deus Otiosus:
I guess.

Leg GODt:
So, there are two fish in a tank...

Leg GODt:
One turns ot another and says:

Leg GODt:
"Do you have any idea how to drive this thing?"

Deus Otiosus:
Heh, that was moderately funny.

Leg GODt:
Yeah, I know. I don't know funny ones. OK now, whatever you do, don't use this joke for your MOColympics entry, bcause it sucks. Seriously.
By the way, were you really going to jump?

Deus Otiosus:
Umm, no? When I said there's one thing to do, I meant going back and fighting. But I wanted to hear what you had to say.

Leg GODt:
OK, I have to go now, Kelso smashed "the Eye" with a hammer again and I have to go build it again.

Deus Otiosus:
Bye Leg GODt! I'll remember your teachings!

Deus Otiosus (in mind):
I guess he's right. Having fun on a MOC is more importaint than winning.

Sorry I missed this, it was a good effort against Dave. You have an original concept here that I liked. Some nice builds as well.

Quoting Yapdap . you spelled deus wrong in some places.
Yeah, and all intentionaly. It was a bit more subtle, but it worked. Or not.

Quoting Alex Fojtik I immensely enjoyed your interpretation of a LEGO deity and the photographs do it justice.
Thank you, but they really don't do it justice. The white element is not visible enough.

Quoting Dennis Price It's not bad, really, it's more like horrible. The overly melodramatic set up, the weak pun, and the rather mundane builds by someone whose been beyond arrogant in commenting on the work of others had me expecting something more. Oh well. The color photography was awesome, however.
Thank you for that comment, it's hard to find one without a 5/5 or 4/5 rating these days. Or, like, ever. While I do agree, I don't understand why melodramatic is a problem in a humorous MOC. When we went to see Romeo and Juliet (it was a school thing), I was laughing so hard at the end, my eyes almost popped out.

I'm sorry, but my vote goes to your opponent. You got some solid builds here, but nothing too special. I like your little viaduct and the dale, but it's not enough. A shorter story might have been helpfull.

This is a very nice entry. The techniques you used were great and I really enjoyed reading on throughout this story. Leg GODt came out really nice and the lighting technique for him was spectacular. I too like the concept of changing the head to add that sparkle in your fig's eyes. Nice work! Good luck!

Hmm, I like the take on it. Tank and Tank. Pier and Pear would have been a cool one. Hunny, can you get me a pear? Wife walks outside for ten minutes, Hubby turns around and sees his Wife walking towards him bulked up carrying a pier with a dinghy still roped to it... Great Build anyway! ~Thoy
