Well this category was appropriately maddening. Posting a little early since I'm off to BrickCon in 8 hours. I call it "Changing of the Guard."
About this creation
Its the 2011 MOCOlympics!
The category: Surrealism
The opponent: The very tall Tyler Halliwell

As much as I'd love to offer some insight into this creation I feel it would betray both the spirit of surrealism and my belief of "let the bricks do the talking" to talk about it much on a conceptual level. I hope you enjoy it!
Also, if any of you are going to BrickCon, I look forward to meeting you there!

Brilliant work Alex! I really like the concept here as it's something I didn't see coming. Also, congrats again on your epic win at BrickCon with your Numereji build. Simply brilliant! |

Fantastic work Alex! It looks like I have 2 days to come up with a surreal piece for the MITs....I can only hope it's half as good as what you've created here! Sorry for the loss. |

I agree that it is interesting that we went with the 2d and symmetrical feel. I guess great minds just think alike. |

It truly is a joy to look at and is a glowing example of art meets LEGO.
That means a lot to me, Hans. Thanks. |

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. The category pushed me in strange ways and actually gave me inspiration to try some other things with strings and whatnot. In the end, the best MOC won. And I dare say it was a shoe in. Congrats to Tyler. |

This was another tough choice for me, Alex. In the end, I've given my vote to Tyler. Nevertheless, this was a great entry, and a really well executed MOC for the subject you were stuck with. Though, you don't move on to the next round - nice work all the same! |

Alex, it's a shock to see you out so early, but such is the level of competition this year. I love how you created an original piece and a fantastic one at that! It truly is a joy to look at and is a glowing example of art meets LEGO. Hold your head high, buddy, you lost to an equally impressive piece of work, no shame in that.~H |

Wow! I really like how the two sides are different colors and the whole build is just awesome. The crescent moon looks very cool and the clouds look very real. This is a very nice interpretation of your category. 5/5 good luck! |
