A working model of a XM8-Carbine - shoots lego rods
About this creation
This is my XM8-Carbine. I am really excited that this one is able to shoot lego-rods as well! The mechanism is now completely hidden inside the gun, so no weird looking shape anymore!
There is not much detail on the gun however, as I only focused on getting the shape of a XM8 right. I think it worked out pretty well.
This model features :
-a working fire-mechanism (no extractor handle though, there was not enough space to put a working one in). It shoots approx. 25 feet at best.
-an 8 round magazine, which feeds the gun automatically.
-not working magazine-release lever
I am currently working on a more detailed version, which includes a fire selector and more stuff.
Please at least rate my creation, a review would be nice too (only constructive criticism please!) so I will know what to improve.
Furthermore, for all those people asking for instructions... I am NOT going to make those, not now, not in the future. So PLEASE...dont ask... it's cool that u like my creations but it's kinda annoying people are asking me this again and again while I explicitely mentioned I'm not making instructions.
Have fun looking at my creation!

EDIT: It seems the page this is linked to has suddenly disappeared. I can't find it in my MOC's anymore :S Maybe I'll create it again sometime.
Stock & Grip
Front. Notice the little air vents (or whatever they're called)
Magazine & Clip
Magazine mechanism. As to answer Tom's question: The part with the rubber band attached to it has a ] shape. The bottom of the magazine contains an sloped piece that will lock this piece in place when the clip is pushed down. (the lower part of the ] will hook itself underneath the sloped piece).
This prevents the magazine from being pushed out of the magazine. When the magazine is loaded into the gun, you can push the lower part of the ] forward with your finger as it sticks just a little out of the bottom of the magazine. This releases the ] part and pushes the clip into the weapon.
Looking down the sights makes makes me think: How on earth did I start playing Call of Duty on MOCpages. LOL anyway. Awesome design, the sight makes it look like your looking through the sight on Call of Duty.
brilliant, it looks just like the one on bad company 2, i dont use that gun i use the 9a-9 avomatic submachine gun, basically the first engineer class submachine gun. Did you get the idea to build it from bbc2. again awsome i love how it shoots and the beautiful design. just amazing. 5/5
Nice, and congrats on MOTD. I just wanna say that the XM8 has always been one of my favorite guns ever to hit the battlefield, and you caught its design perfectly. I would like to see this in a beige or grey color that it usually is in, just to capture more detial. Also a bit disappointed with no scope or Grenade launcher, but the firing mechanism looks great. Anyways,I like it, good job...

there's people who perfectionize the art of building a castle, people who perfectionize the art of building a neat train layout, and you, my friend, have more than mastered the art of building real-life, hand-sized weaponry out of Lego. a very nice job indeed!
Wow, looks great. Can't believe it actually fires! Nice work. Does anyone know why the cancelled the project? Seemed like a pretty good gun - compact, modular, field-servicable... Anyway, excellent moc. Peace - Patrick
You're creation is excellent, I would like to extend and invitation for you join the LTDS. You're creation is a big advancement in Lego design! To view the details check out my homepage! Keep up the good work!
I am currently in the process of making guns of my own. how do you make the rods and the firing mechanism? also how do you get the clip to push the bullets up? i see the pics and i read everything, but it still doesn't make sense to me. email me please at firstname.lastname@example.org or leave comments on my own site on a MOC that i'll label questions. thank you
I am extremely impressed that you managed to attain such an efficient firing system and still get the kind of power that you say you're getting.
I came out with a very efficient single-action firing system (see my creations), but I never managed to get the kind of semi-auto action that you're describing.
You could very well have the best Lego gun design to date.
I'd love to talk with you about our respective firing systems - please email me : email@example.com
