The Birth of Venus
The Birth of Venus
About this creation

The Birth of Venus by Botticelli. The mosaic utilizes the idea that colors are altered when you put clear pieces on top of them.

This mosaic was inspired by the amazing mosaics of Doug Hill and Alyska Bailey Peterson (and conversations with Chris Doyle, Roy Cook, and Jeremy Moody)

Lego usually has very vibrant colors, but the transparent bricks have made them more watercolor or pastel. It all comes out looking quite soft. I'll have to remember that. Brilliant work.

Quoting Joost Cumps Fantastic. Due to the trans clear bricks the mosaic really wins beauty and professionalism and art and whatever it makes it better then others . Are the trans bricks also in different colours? How long do you build on something lke this?
Just clear plates; either 1 layer or 2 layers. Took me about 100 hours.

Woah.... You should make the entire painting, although I bet that would take like a month to make, considering the painting is very detailed and big.
