MOC Olympics Round One: I am the god of hellfire and I bring you: FIRE
"Don't play with fire or you'll wet the bed." -- everyone on earth's mom.
About this creation
My entry for the stinkin' MOCOLYMPICS: Songs I'm familiar with that deal with fire in some way.

Yes, punks, some of these songs are quite old, quite cheesey, and totally uncool. As if I care about your opinion about music. Each mini-model was inspired by my memory of these songs, or because I thought it was funny. No, I don't care if it isn't funny to you, Johnny MOCpages, it's funny to ME and that's all that matters.

"Oh, they say she died one winter
When there came a killing frost
And the pony she named Wildfire
Busted down its stall
In a blizzard he was lost"
-- "Wildfire" by Michael Martin Murphey

"We didn't start the fire
It was always burning
Since the world's been turning
We didn't start the fire
No we didn't light it
But we tried to fight it"
-- "We Didn't Start the Fire" by Billy Joel

"Chariots of Fire" by Vangelis
(No, there are no words)
(Thanks to Gil and Ewart for posing for the picture)

"I'm on fire
I'm on fire
I'm on fire
I'm on fire"
-- "On Fire" by Van Halen

"Love is a burning thing
And it makes a fiery ring
Bound by wild desire
I fell into a ring of fire

I fell into a burning ring of fire
I went down, down, down and the flames went higher
And it burns, burns, burns, the ring of fire
The ring of fire"
-- "Ring of Fire" by Johnny Cash

"I went to your house last night
Your dad called me the human torch
Got a little pissed at him
so I burned down your front porch
Now I feel a little bad
About pouring gas on your dad
But you know it's hard to quit
And besides he started it"

--"If You Love Somebody, Set Them on Fire" by The Dead Milkmen

All models conceived, built, and photographed within a 36 hour period. I did not lose sleep, miss a meal, or skip work to do these (and it shows). Post title taken from the song "Fire" by The Crazy World of Arthur Brown.

Alright, lots going on here! Fire, songs, pretty pink houses, it's all very entertaining! On their own, they each exemplify the category, some better than others. I particularly like the forced perspective in the Billy Joel one, but Johnny Cash is my favorite. It has a similar emotional quality to Leda's, actually. Not sure how you went about this, building them all, then trying to choose one, then choosing them all? Going with just the Cash vig on a slightly more imposing stage (rigging, lighting, curtains) might have been more powerful all by itself. But whatever, great entry, congrats!

Additional congrats from me, Dennis. This made me laugh so many times (in a good way). And I like how you translated the songs into MOCs, especially "Ring of Fire".

The Dead Milkmeeeeen!!! Punk Rock Girl! Oh, wait, wrong song. The Johnny Cash one is my fav. He seriously looks like he sold his soul to the devil to do that little fire trick.

Quoting Mister Bones Sorry I missed this Dennis. I love the idea, some great tunes and some well build depictions of said tunes! Now, did you pass on to R2 or not? The drunken judge below me seems a bit confused.
Honestly, you know I love a good joke, but if they can't be bothered to give me a straight answer I don't care if I made it to the next round or not. I'm out.

Quoting Matt David Wait, sorry, wrong entry. You got a 1.4. Eliminated.

Quoting Derek Berdine I was a bit surprised/disappointed that you did not include "Burning Down the House" by Talking Heads, but you redeemed yourself with The Dead Milkmen. So, we're cool. ;)
I considered that one - I was going to go mini land scale and do David Byrne in the big white suit and then I realized I don't do mini land scale and I had already done a burning house in an attempt at forced perspective.

Eh, sorry man, one of those is official but I can't remember which...

My favorite is the Johnny Cash one. I don't think I've ever told you this before but that song reminds me of when I'm sitting on the toilet after eating a bowl of fresh salsa that is chock full of hot jalapenos. Just thought you'd like to know that little tidbit. :P Good luck with the judges!
