MocOlympics-Round 1: Sleigh Accident
For the first round of the MocOlympics I chose the category of Winter. My scene depicts Santa Claus crashing into a snowy fjord just after leaving Denmark.
About this creation

Saint Nicholas has lost altitude and plowed into a snowy mountainside!

His sleigh just missed an evergreen glade

The waves have melted the snow from the bottom of the mountain

What could have weighed the sleigh down so much that it crashed? Was it the generic game console? The LEGO Tardis for Mr. Xenomurphy?

Or Kelso's six foot long SHIP?

The backs of the reindeer protrude from the snow

The jolly old elf isn't looking so jolly now!

A closer view of the glade

A small waterfall cascades to the sea

Foliage grows from the cliffs

A close-up view of some rock work

Waves head towards shore

A cave is found in the side of the mountain

Inside is an underground lake and...

...Excalibur?

A side view of the cave entrance

Bird's eye view

Another above shot

The front again

The area where the sleigh was

The sleigh on it's own. I went with a less traditional version of his sleigh, just for some extra variety. Plus, the roof protects toys from rain. It would be a shame if electronics, books or *shudder* LEGO instruction manuals were ruined.

I think the skids turned out really well, I especially like how it slants the front upwards

The back

A sleigh bell is attached under the roof

The decorative side bar

The front

The back without gifts. The sack was made with three capes, a lightsaber blade, and two cylinders

Santa disembarks

The great man (elf?) himself!

Oh, and the link.

The smallest link yet! The period!

A very traumatic year for me... 'sighs' ...Okay, I'm seriously kicking myself for not finding this sooner. The fjord and sleigh are both excellent; I can tell you put a ton of work into them. Also, the Santa fig couldn't look better! Love this!

Great MOC, somehow missed this before. Love your take on the sleigh, and the landscaping is very nice. Plenty of detail is always good, and the cave is a good touch. The little waterfall is very effective too, nice work!

Well done! I like the stories you tell! The hidden objects in the snow cave and Santa's reindeer going astray! I love the creation of the snow cave against the frigid water and the Victorian look of the sleigh! And your use of snot to create the sleigh's blades! Now stop by my sleigh and see how step by step I improved it! How I used a HALLMARK Christmas Ornament for inspiration and how I felt no need for a background! Maybe one day I will put it against a blue background! keep an open mind! and understand the teacher always comes out in me! (lol) And here's a quick link for you! http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/248705

Quoting Justin L. Love your creations. On the subject of horse rears...nah, I'll save that for later. Really loved the humor and the rockwork. One miniscule problem: protrude, not portrude...whatever, you probably saw that. :)
Thanks! Also, I like to make sure my spelling is correct in my MOCs, but I think your eyes might have been playing tricks on you here. Still, it's appreciated, and if you see any spelling or grammar mistakes in my other MOCs let me know!

You received a total score of 41.2 out of a total of 60 possible points from the judges. Congratulations, you have made the top 64! Your will receive your opponent and category on Wednesday, September 21st. Good luck!
