Uh oh... The birds are angry...
About this creation
Round Eins of the 2011 MocOlympics, for the category Spring, with the subtitle "Angry Birds". You know the drill at this point.
So I needed something to build, so I brainstormed and played Angry Birds. Then I thought, "It would be awesome to build Angry Birds out of Lego, and lo and behold it fits the category of Spring, given that it's in a Spring-y setting. So I set about building Angry Birds. Now let's see some pictures.

Release the Birds!

Oink!

Oink!

Here's the full diorama. 80x32...

Upperness.

White bird: Somewhat useless, You sling it, then tap the screen to drop an egg bomb.

Back of said bird.

Black bird: The most useful bird. Sling it and tap the screen to make it explode. Mean, but useful.

Banananananana!

Red bird: The leader. Weird, seeing as it's one of the worst. It has no special actions.

Woosh.

The slingshot was the hardest part, but the most pleasing to me. I used two pieces of flex and strung it up with brown cylinder pieces. It took me a long time to figure this out, and it paid off.

The tread is attached by stuffing a minifig hand into the gap between treads, then clipped onto the flex, which is tragically yellow.

Back row: Red bird, white bird, black bird. Front row: Ham 'Em High pig, Big Setup pig. Not pictured: Everything else.
There you have it, my Round One entry. As a side note, this is not copied from Paul Vermeesch's excellent creation . I discovered this after I was halfway done with the diorama. Sorry for being so similar, Paul!
And here is the all-important link . I didn't forget it !

I'm not too much into computer games, but even I know the angy birds. Like Dave already mentioned, that this kind of popularity might have been a disadvantage in this case. But the slingshot fascinated me. |

Angry Birds rule!!!! I think it's built well, and really shows the action. Just not feeling the category here. But nice work! |

Espen, Angry Birds was a good idea for spring and the slingshot was well designed. I guess there have been quite a few Angry Birds MOCs recently and you may have fallen victim to familiarity. I wonder what you could have done to make this more original and interesting? Thank you for sharing your take on the categories. ~Dave |

I knew I had seen these birds before, but come to think of it, there's not many different ways to build these. You pulled it off great! Good luck with your judges! |
