A model after a real building.
About this creation
This is the sixth building from my home town Tromsø that I make a LEGO model after. I desided to build this one and the neighbor building number 14 at the same time. And after I started with nr 14 I found out that both these two buildings in number 14 and number 16 is built and designed by the same mason master man: Theodor Amundsen.
Who accidentally also together with his brother had designed Verdensteatret as I have built a model of a few years ago. It seems like I do like this architect a lot (and they have also designed a few other buildings in my town...).
I love the look of this building. It look a bit unusual. And has a lot of features and details on the outside. The baluster on the windows is made out of the leftover on a LEGO sticker sheet.
There is no interior yet in the building, but I will make it later on.
East facade.
This facade show of a few of the special details like rounded corner with windows. The curved roof over the 3rd floor window. The curved wall under the veranda that goes down to the ground floor.
North facade.
I am not 100% happy with the chimneys, so I may change them in the future if I find a better way to do them.
As you see in this picture and the next, the horizontal white lines does not go around the complete building.
West facade.
The window above this entrance on the west facade is pretty neat. I think I got it very close to the original.
South facade.
This veranda was pretty easy to make. I was strugling a bit with the curved edge on the roof, but think this was a good solution.
Vertical splitt.
Here is a picture that show how I have made the vertical split on this building. It was made so I can "open" up the building and show of the interior. I have not made any interior yet.

I am curious as to how you turned the 1x2x2 white windows into a four pane window? Are those strips of white Lego stickers that were applied to the trans-clear glass?
Well, it is actually LEGO. I use the remaining white part outside the stickers on a LEGO sticker sheet and a sharp knife (I use scalpel) and a steel ruler and cut thin strips out of the sticker sheet. The hard part is getting the stripes at the same with all the way around on all windows. Maybe a table papercutter will do the work better for this job. |

Very impressive. The brick work on this is phenomenal, and you've done a spectacular job shaping it, particularly the curved sections. Excellent work! |
