While I'm not going to comment on the "reasoning" as much as Dave (he's right though) I think it just should have had a little "more" to it. I know parts issues play a big role but I think taking it bigger would have really helped. I really liked the build and think you should really try this theme (floating rocks) again! Floating rocks are very popular, but yours has a nice shape. The addition of the bird was a clever touch. Good work.

Adam, The floating rock was certainly a good idea, and you had a lot of interesting elements to enhance the idea. I would have liked to see more thought put into these details; where would a waterfall on a floating rock come from? The roots were a nice touch, but what direction would a tree grow in such an environment? Thank you for sharing your take on the categories. ~Dave

Like I said in chat the other day, the bird is great, the waterfall is great, but you could have done more with the tree roots. Although its nothing new in the world of flying rocks, this should be enough to get you to round 2. Nice job and good luck!

The exposed tree roots are very clever. That's something I have not yet seen on a Floating Rocks moc.

That my friend, is the point. It's just supposed to be a floating piece of earth!
