Little known fact: falls are completely harmless. It's the impact at the end that does the damage.
About this creation
A day out of the ordinary at the "Prancing Lion's" club.

"Say, isn't that young Perkins down there?"
"Huh, the fellow would go any length to make an impression."
-
Well, if you think jumping off a building will have an effect on people, you're going to be greatly disappointed.
At most, you'll become a temporary tourist attraction...

... but most people will just go on with their lives like you never existed.
So don't do it. I'm serious.
Don't look at me like that! I am!
This is , like, a PSA here!

Full MOC

-
Production notes
The scene is a 14x23 street section with a facade.
This took me something like 9 hours to build. I pulled an all-nighter because I don't know if I'll have building time again before the end of the round.
I'm very satisfied with how it came out, and actually I don't think I've ever built a better building (facade) before.
Can you see the subtle motive obtained with the contrast between old gray and new bley?

I used this fine little technique to make the "crater".
I saw this in a couple of MOCs last year or the year before, but I can't remember what I had at lunch, so bear with me.

I like the "scooter" design, but the best thing here is the girl's smartphone.
I've been waiting years for LEGO to come up with a decent cellphone design.
It took far less time for phones to look like existing LEGO parts.

The other figgies: a tourist, Mr Smith, Mr Row, Ms Disappointment and of course young Perkins.
No, there's no one missing. You must have seen wrong.

And of course how to forget the required link to the 2011 MOC Olympics? (which I totally was about to)
I hope you liked it, and I sure hope to be among the top 64! Good luck everyone!

Nice one, Dude! It's got a real cartoon like feel to it with the cracked pavement and all. Bun an anvil or a grand piano on its way down would have put this over the top. Congrats and good luck! |

Yuri, I appreciate the direction you took with this MOC, however, knowing that the judges were going to wait to deliver their verdicts meant that you could have spent more time on the build rather than trying to beat the field to your idea.
I couldn't. I only had one day to build that week, and no guarantees I would have more later (which in fact I had, unexpectedly). I built during the night and early morning, shot in the early afternoon, got to work and posted in the night.
Quoting Dave Kaleta The technique for the crater is good, but I feel you could have achieved the same effect by simply leveling the tiles. Perhaps if the base of the MOC was circular with more cracks it would have been more effective. Thank you for sharing your take on the categories. ~Dave
A circular base? That would have been a great idea! Beyond my skills, though. I never sold this short, it is indeed my best city MOC yet, and I put 8-9 hours in it. Any problem thus resides in my City skills :) |

some unexpected color scheme. The crater is an idea to keep in mind. Overall a nice job. But you might have used some hidden Bionicle part just to make it more your MOC ;-) I´m happy your in MO 2011!
I really hoped to get this kind of comment. You see, the MOColympics are mostly about being forced to build outside your comfort zone. I could have made a big BioMech with a big flamethrower for "fire", but what would be the point of posting a Bionicle now? If a City MOC won't get me through R1, it simply means I would have been doomed the instant I got a City-related theme (which is my worst, in fact I only have one City MOC, and it's this one).

Yeah, me too. In fact, it was the very first thing that came to mind reading the list. I went with my instinct. There may have been many more people that thought about it, but at this point, it's already old news.

Excellent use of benidng metal! But although that is a clever line at start, the "twist" is far too obvious. I thought of using it, but figured it would look like I'm trying too hard. At least you made it funny.
