Progress journal for the creation of General Grievous' command ship, the Invisible Hand.
About this creation
The idea with this page is to keep something of a journal for the construction of my first large scale MOC, General Grievous' Invisible Hand.
Looking at others' creations, I often find myself wondering how long it took, how difficult it might have actually been, and the steps involved. So I thought it might be fun to post some "progress reports" as this lengthy, and expensive creation trudges along...we'll see if I survive the process! (Also, there's always the hope that it may serve as a personal reminder to me never to attempt something so ludicrisly elaborate and difficult ever again. Although I tend not to listen to myself when stirred by some creative delusion of grandure!)
So anyway, here goes a bold attempt at what may amount to nothin'. But then again, as Ferris Bueller said..."Only the meek get pinched. The bold survive!"

March 12, 2007: So I'm off and running...The goal is to go no-studs, or at least as few as possible. I started with the dorsal portion at the front of the ship, calculating a length of approximately six feet. As the sides start to develope I'm working in blueish grays. However the color scheme I've chosen will eventually see the first portion of the sides in black...

(cont)...The nose and darker grays throughout the ship will more than likely be all bluish gray (although I'm considering mixing in old grays for texture). The lighter grays will be a mix of light bluish gray and old light gray to provide the subtle striping that occurs throughout the length of the ship.

Jeeez, thats impressive.
Did you have to buy the Star destroyer Lego set from Lego?
That will surely be an impressive structure when it is completed.

Thanks so much, everyone for the good comments...well...most everyone. Yeah, I'm dying to start another big project, but it's still going to be a while before the schedule lets up. I've been toying with a Battlestar (Pegasus), a minifig Serenity, or acutually a design of my own. I'll definitely do another SHIP of some kind, though...it's been my favorite project thus far. |

Congratz on MOTD. Are you going to make another big Star Wars vehicle? If so, how about a groundvehicle like a Juggernaut? Then you can make it minifig scale. Anyways, keep em going! |

Aaa... Congrats with your visible hand! Where is the head? I thought this were a cyborg racer Mark! Where is my Oceanssigfiggy head... aa... there it is... He won't let me put his head on your big cyborg racer! I like it how you showed us how you built the invisible hand. Do you know you are the only one on the world who created the biggest invisible hand ever? GO AND CREATE LITTLE MOCS LIKE EVERYONE DOES, MARK! You did created some of those skelly vigs, but where stays the art? Maybe you fancy some art MOCs in the future! Anyway, happy MOTD! Keep 'm coming!~Joris |

Hey, I'll trade you a cupcake for this MOC of the Day. Simply inscribe it to Sho Fukamachi for his fantastic Invisible Hand...that he made...not Mark Kelso. Sooooo Whaddaya Say? You Know you can't resist a cupcake. Get it before it's gone. Mmmmmm, what a great aroma! Yup, definately worth the trade. |

Well look who thinks he's so special with moc of the day! I suppose you think you deserve a cookie for this or something huh? You would think a MOCie award would be enough but NOOOOOO. "I'm Mark Kelso and I get MOC of the day on the same project more than once. NA NA NANA NA NA..." Next thing ya know you'll get moc of the day for that Apocolypsis thing... Please. (congrats dude.) |

MOC of the Day, is it? You lucky duck, you. Well, Kelso you did well, I must say. The "Invisible Hand" has been a tremendous success...you won a Mocie award from Phipson, impressed SigOcean Figgy with it (sort of) and have earned MOC of the Day! Now if only you could give me a "hand" with my ship-building...heh heh...my puns seem to be getting more t*rrible by the minute...C ya~Nick ("ElNickre) |

I await the next progress report with relish... From what I can see thus far, the final result will be nothing short of awe inspiring - persevere my friend! I myself am accruing my lego supplies in order to attempt a similar project - the USAC EVENT HORIZON from the film of the same name..we both must be stark raving mad! |
