Weeping WIllow for the Tree Contest
About this creation
For the Tree Contest, we were looking for some new techniques to use while building trees. I wanted to make a weeping willow that had a little more of the drooping leaves feel to it. So I used some light green 1x1 rounds with the flower stems hanging from the tree.
I however, did not use my typical staging area to take the photo....and I didn't clean it up with Photoshop either. So sorry for the picture of my kitchen counter!

Great design, I've been having trouble with tree designs for my coming medieval city, I think this helps, though I'm not sure I have enough parts for a few trees. Love the idea |

Judges Comment: Great Branches. Accuracy: If only the branches were all the same, it would REALLY look like a weeping willow. Because they aren't, it looks like a weeping willow. If that didn't make sense, I will just tell you it is a compliment. 20 points. Techniques: I love the hanging branches, and the rest is well constructed. It could be smoother though. 20 points. Originality/Creativity: The idea of using grass is one of the only original ideas in the MOC, but it makes up for a lot. Very innovative. 39 Points. Thats 79 points. Great work! |

Hey Kayne, this looks great. I agree with the drooping look, it is very hard to achieve - let alone achieve with a stunning effect. I deliberatly didn't attempt a Weeping Willow as Tom Simons attempt blew all others outa the earth. Based on the scale of this it is a really good effort, the technique of hanging grass is new to me so really cool mate! ~Thoy |

Wow, there's a park a few hundred meters from my house with tons of these, and I can tell you that you did a great job making one. I love the drooping foliage technique!
Thanks! I realized that I need more flower stems! I am building a castle right now and wanted to add a weeping willow, but I will be severely short on flower stems if I do! |

Wow! This is way better than my weeping willow! I love the drooping leaves technique, I feel so stupid now because I didn't make my tree drooping at all. The leaves look very realistic and I am giving it a 4/5 but only because you switched leaf techniques near the top, if you had made it all with drooping leaves it would be like the best Lego tree ever made. Still it is a really awesome moc! |
