It was back then, after Toa lihkan had killed Makuta Teridax, that everything had seemed so peaceful. The Toa metru had been anointed council of the order of mata nui, and Toa lihkan it’s leader, along with Toa Takanuva. Toa lihkan wanted to keep the threat of darkness away from Metru nui, so he and Toa Takanuva had gone to a remote island, later to be named siraya nui, meaning “prison island”, to seal away Teridax’s body.
Even with the shadowed one destroyed, the two Toa felt something was wrong. Teridax was dead, but it felt as if he were still somehow watching them, making sure they didn’t discover some grand scheme he was planning. “That’s nonsense.” Toa Takanuva contradicted. “ We saw with our own eyes that he is dead. You are starting to sound unconvinced. Want me to stab him one more time to make sure?”
Lihkan chuckled, then replied “Maybe, just to make sure.” The two friends continued talking, until they reached the already-built crypt.
They led the cart containing Teridax’s body inside, and Takanuva said “looked a lot nicer on the blueprints before we built it…” He was right, as fungus and mould were already beginning to creep up the walls, and the roof looked as if it could fall over at any moment.
“Over there.” Lihkan pointed to a large coffin, and they led the body over. The two picked up the body and put it inside, then Takanuva inserted his staff into a large shaft, and twisted. The coffin illuminated brilliantly, large panels moving into place, shining a light purer than no other on Teridax’s body, then the coffin began to shift, and the lid gradually moved and sealed into place, locking tightly.
“ Even if he does somehow get out, he’ll definitely want to go back in.” Takanuva told Lihkan. He then thrown a shadow leech into the light, it almost instantly squealed loudly and disintegrated. The two Toa then walked towards the exit, only to hear something rumble.
They turned around to see a figure, or what they thought was a figure, looming over the coffin. “ Who are you?” Takanuva demanded. The figure turned towards them, and seemed to disappear, only to rematerialize again, holding Lihkan by the throat. The darkness seemed to envelope him, Burning and clawing at his very soul. Lihkan couldn’t move, and seemed to be drifting away. He was then brought back to consciousness by a brilliant light and then abruptly met the floor.
It was Takanuva, fending off the shadow creature with his light powers. “Run Lihkan! It’s you it wants!” He shouted, keeping the creature at bay. The creature seemed to only gain strength with every time he shone on it, even though it backed away. Lihkan obeyed his friend, and with a heavy heart, ran from the scene. After making sure his friend was far away, Takanuva turned back to face the beast. “ Now where are you you-“ He was cut short by the creature surrounding him, choking him.
“There cannot be shadow without light. Death is not afraid.” A dark, booming voice told him.
“ What….. do… you…….. mean?” Takanuva struggled to breath, let alone talk. He felt his consciousness slipping away, dieing slowly, but painfully. He then felt a cold, unforgiving force plunge through his chest, and he saw it was a large clawed hand. His chest wasn’t even torn open, but he still felt the pain of it.
“Your death……. pleasures me. The brave Takanuva, defeater of the Rahkshi, hero of Mata Nui, gave his life for a mere Toa? Pathetic.” Takanuva heard nothing more, and the shadow dropped his limp, lifeless body. It then turned towards Teridax’s coffin. “As for you, my creation….”
It slithered up to the coffin and seemed to melt the lid. It then breathed a puff of jet-black smoke onto the corpse, and Teridax stirred. He opened his blood red eyes in horror at the figure in front of him and screamed “ No! You are dead! You are dead!” he tried to scramble, but the darkness pinned him.
“ FOOL! DEATH DOES NOT COME TO ME! I AM DEATH” The figure bellowed, and Teridax screamed as it enveloped his body, morphing and twisting it to his will. The figure that emerged from the coffin was not the body of Teridax, but something far, far worse.
“T… Teri….Teridax?” Takanuva managed to whisper.
“No, I am not Teridax…..” The being replied darkly. “ I AM HELLSHADE!!!!!!!!” The island trembled and shook as he bellowed evilly. “ AND THIS WORLD, WILL SUCCOMBE TO DEATH!!!
