MOC comparison with Kevin J. Walter: The Wraith Hive Ship.
One ship. Two MOCers. Lots of angles & great building fun.
About this creation
The idea with a MOC comparison is to take one reference and two builders. Each builder make his version in his signature style of the said model. In other words: turn this:
src="http://images.mocpages.com/user_images/8362/1314125854m_SPLASH.jpg" border="0" width="500" height="242" alt="">

Into a Lego version:

All of my collectable minifig stands gone into this. As they are three wide, they connect perfectly with the wedged plates.

Lots of angles and levels integrated thanks to building studs up.

Made a Deadalus in the same scale for size comparison.

The center is quite different then Kevins version. That's what you get with comparisons, I guess.

I went with the bottom with a much more organic look then the top.

Photoshopping by Mike Verlinde, THANKS DUDE!!

Well, this kind of "competition" really is a blast. It's challenging and great fun to chat about it with eachother. We had lots of fun building this and we both admire eachothers results. Here's Kevins awesome version !

The shape of this beast is creepy! All those pointy bits look like I would not like to see it coming towards me. Very awesome build here. Imposing and elegant.

Quoting Yuri Fassio The Dedalus is stunningly accurate in that scale. Keving annihilated you, though...

Very cool build. The idea for the 2 of you to work on the same reference and post on the same day is really cool though.....very interesting possibilities!

Wasn't a big fan of the stargate tv series, but this is a pretty impressive ship. I like the angles and the use of one by ones to achieve a lighting effect. The top side of the ship looked like a real pain to put together, not to mention even design, kudos sir on a job well done.

Wow, very impressive. The shape of this is absolutely excellent, and to me it has a very organic feel to it, maybe because of the studs.

Very different approach than Kevin. I like the use of exposed studs and greebling. I really get a sense of scale and how huge this ship is supposed to be.

The overall shape is dead on, and the extra details really gives your ship some oomph. Still, I like Kevin's use of SNOT and overall organic feel to his. Either way, excellent job! Very well done!

Like in our last conversation: Your hive is overwhelming - funny is, I considered of building the Daedalus, and didn't... It was as usual a great fun to "compete", talking about the subject, etc. with you!!! Love it! - K.
