Leftover Parts - Imperial Gunship
An Imperial gunship, using only the parts found in set 7915, "Imperial V-wing Starfighter". I made this over the weekend after a visit to the LEGO Store.
About this creation
Status: Intact, for now. I took my nephew to the local LEGO Store, where he got one of the new Alien Invasion sets. I grabbed this set for myself. I liked the new canopy design and though, why not? I haven't bought anything in months, I've been good... mostly.

I figure that with all the spaceships with guns, flying around in space, the Empire needed something flying around on planets, making sure the rabble didn't get too comfy. Big, loud guns and a dark color scheme really help keep the populous in line.

Nothing too original, this basic design has been done before. I myself haven't made anything like this, though. I do like the sloped back and balance point (just behind the cockpit), which makes it terribly swooshable.

Fun fact: the tail is placed at a slight angle, held in place by the hinges and clips. It's not actually connected to the body directly. It's very subtle, but it is kind of "floating" in place.

The set itself doesn't contain any controls of any kind. Its kind of pathetic, really. No sticks, no panels... the only thing even remotely computer-ish is the R2 unit. I stuck the head in as a basic control system. It even moves out of the way for the pilot.
