I haven't posted anything for a while now, due to being busy with other things and Moc pages being poorly. My homepage seemed to be awash with cars so it time for me to replace all that CO2 with a bit of nature.
About this creation
This is my entry for the tree contest. It is based on a Common Oak tree which is a deciduous tree. It's a very important tree for wildlife and humans alike. Almost 300 species of wildlife make a living from this tree and is one of my favourites.
This was a fiddly job which was rather frustrating due to it being quite fragile and falling apart on me more times than i can remember.
I really wanted to make it look as natural as you can make Lego look, with limited brown pieces.
Being a deciduous tree it loses it's leaves over winter. In my opinion this Lego model doesn't do the real tree justice without the leaves but i tried my best with the pieces i had.
Proof that the tree is on an 8x8 plate
I really enjoyed building and perfecting this and will use this tree for a future project. Hope you like it, let me know what you think :)
Judges Comment: Nice tree! Accuracy: Your entry really looks like what it tries to be. 23 points. Techniques: Although simplistic, the build looks very sturdy and unique. 20 points. Originality/Creativity: Again, the build is rather simple, but you defiantly made it your own. I don't think I have ever seen someone put the leafs under the branches. 45 points. Great work! Your total: 88 points.
Very cool! I really like the trunk of the tree and the shape of the tree. The sunflower is very clever too! I think the branches look a bit too symmetric, which makes it a bit awkward looking, because most trees aren't naturally symmetric.
Wow this is beautiful. I love the shape of the foliage, and the bare tree looks great too especially from the birds eye view. The mushroom and the flower work really well on the base. I want to make a tree now :) Good luck in the contest.
