This is a 58 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner. This car suffered a short 3 year run from 1957-1959 before it was discontinued by Ford Motor Company it was the world's first retractable hardtop convertible but production was low as people werent looking for a convertible hardtop but the car did get alot of attention, Sorry the top is not motorized there just wasn't enough room for all the gear's, motor, battery box, wheel's and the top to fit in that little trunk. The rear wheel's are a bit close together but I needed to make clearence for the convertible top arm's other then that im very pleased with how it turned out my best yet. Please rate this vehicle and comment.

Quoting Brody Allen Very good build. My only suggestion without knowing your collection of blocks situation is that I would have rounded the hood and fenders a little more. It is a bit boxy compared to the original. Also, going with a studless design would have made it more realistic. The detailing on the side is very well done though. I wouldn't change a thing there!
Thank's for the tip's Brody ;)

Quoting Ape Fight A very cool looking MOC, and huuuge too! A few of the proprtions are a little off but the details are all present and correct. Great job. P.S I think the Fairlane is not the first working folding hard top though (I think Peugeot made the first one in the '30s.)
Thank's Ape!

Quoting Kyle Peckham Amazing Marty! I love it! It looks so playable, and if this was an official kit, I would definitely buy it! Only thing I'm not too sure about is the nose. It seems a little boxy. But who cares, this is awesome! I love the interior! I can't say enough about this, so I'll just say epic work!

Quoting Thomas Fillmore It is a beautiful car. A good friend of mine had a slightly different Fairlane that was purchased for his Grandma in 1958, passed down through the family, left in a field and then my friend restored it to mint. 1 month ago a drunk driver hit him on the interstate doing over a 100 and totaled it. my friend is now in the hospital for at least another 6 mos. He can use his upper body and I would like to get directions from you and purchase them from lego. If you can help me out that would be more than great. I will check the posts and if you can help me I will post my Email. Thanks, Tom
Ok Tom i'll see what I can do, Im sorry about your friend hope he get's well, but im not sure if I can make it again im already knee deep in another project, the car does have some problem's though I was running short on part's with it.

Quoting Nick Barrett That's mighty fine! Love to see that the roof folds, too. This isn't the world's first retractable hardtop, though - that was a coachbuilt version of the Peugeot 302 (1936 I think). There, I'll take my anorak off now...
Oh didn't know that I read it was the world's first working production version.

Quoting R. H. The paint & functions are great! The carbuerator is a tad large though.
That's because it's a 4 barrel instead of the standard 2 barrel carb it's a 352 Thunderbird Special V8
