Ninja mountain temple
About this creation
So this is the first big(gish) MOC iíve made in a couple of months. I wanted to do something with the ninjago minifigs and i wanted to make a snow scene, thatís pretty much where it started. Iinitially i was thinking of the the snowy fight scene in Kill Bill, with the CM series 4 geisha as the lead character against a ninja attack, but it sort of morphed into something quite different.

I initially build up the base so that i could get some stairs in, and then added the snow caves and the cascading tree. I was planning to build a fortified house, but i couldn't get a feel for the architecture, and so just kept piling dark bley peices up into what eventually became the lava tube. I sort of had Orodruin (Mt Doom) in mind as i was building, can you tell? And then the Japanese castle inspired thing behind it started to take shape last of all.

The levels of the temple/castle come apart to show the interiors. I think the shrine level came out the best, largely because of the colourful strip i put around the top. The others look a bit bare, but then i hadn't left myself much room to work in.

This is also the first time i've used a light brick in a MOC! I put it behind the rock fissure that leads into the lava cavern. (sorry about the grainy pic though)

I like the snow, it makes me want to do a winter time version of some of my creations.

Quoting El Barto ! That looks like a fun set!
It was a great little display set for a bit, but hard to play in due to the tight interior spaces. Hanging errant minifgs over the lava pool was kinda fun though! ;D

Quoting Elk Guard I really like the first image, it shows off the MOC really well. Great job!
Thanks! It has troubled me a bit though that this MOC only works when seen from a limited range of angles. I wonder if that has something to do with my visual language being so heavily geared towards drawing and painting? :/ Oh well, something else to work on, i guess!
Quoting Mister Bones Another excellent build! Great details all over this and an overall great build. The snow looks great as does the temple .
Thankyou! :)

Quoting DeTomaso Pantera Great scene! It does remind mr of kill bill and batman begins, some really nice details. Personally I think Lego could have done soo much better with that ninja series, it's a bit kiddie for me, but hey it is made for kids afterall lol
Thanks! Glad you like it. :) I agree that the concept behind the Ninjago line is full of crack, but i love the new parts and the sets themselves have some quite interesting play features. (I just got the Fire Temple yesterday and the sliding doors feature is brilliant!)

Quoting A Monkey Excellent. You can't really take it all in at once!
Thankyou! I'm glad you think there are enough little details to sustain a viewer's interest. :)
Quoting Outer Rim Emperor Love the way you designed the snow on the roof and the little cave off to the side is a great touch! Nice job!
Thanks mate! I have to say, i do like landscaping. :))
Quoting Isaiah Suko Just beautiful, wonderful job!
Cheers!
Quoting Agent Annie This is excellent! Great job with all the detail in it! :)
Thankyou very much!
Quoting Shannon Ocean This is way cool mate!
Glad you like. :) Thanks again mate!
Quoting Svend Bay Nice MOC. Have you seen Batman Begins? On the outside, it looks a lot like the place, where Ra's A Gul or whatever he's called lives. Very nice job.
I might have seen Batman Begins, but it was a while ago and i don't really remember it. I'm glad that my creation is evocative of it for you though - thanks for yr comment!
Quoting Alex Sonny At first glance, I thought you used a pre-made snowy base from some unknown model... But NO! You made it by yourself. That really shows your talent and skill. Truly remarkable. I'd build these as well, but I lack the bricks to do it. Excellent work!
Thankyou for yr very kind comment! :) I do own a few raised bases, but when it comes to getting the look of something just the way you want it, there is no substitute for building yr own. I wish you many bricks in yr future! ;)
Quoting Connor Simpson Very good work. Nice interior, you're right, the shrine is the best room.
Thanks buddy. Visualising interiors is an area that i want to work on some more in my building. :)
Quoting Master Shifu Leo J Very nice!
Thankyou!
Quoting Lwc guy Absolutely brilliant!
