NXTified Unimog (8110)
Put a NXT in one of the greatest LEGO TECHNIC sets ever and you get "The NXTified Unimog (8110)". All the original functions are maintained, but by using the NXT my truck can drive, steer and toot the horn too. The NXTified Unimog has also working flash lights.
About this creation
Watch my video:

I removed the Battery box, and placed the NXT-brick in the space I created .

I put two NXT-motors in the Cabin of the Unimog. One for driving forward and backward with different speeds and one for steering left and right. When you drive Backward the Unimog makes a warning sound.

Near the NXT you find a Hitechnic IR receiver sensor. By using this sensor I can control the Unimog with a Power functions remote control.

I put power function lights in the flash light on top of the Unimog. With the NXT I programmed them to flash. Behind the steer you find a LEGO SCALA girl figure. She fits perfectly in the Unimog.

All the original functions are maintained. So the Unimog is still able move and turn the crane, roll out the winch and fold out the legs. I only moved the switches from the right site to the left side of the Unimog. This was for making more space for the NXT-brick.

Bye bye,

I really like how you motorized it but maintained all of the original functions. Could you add this to the group "Motorized Lego Sets"? Thanks.

Groetjes Anika Vuurzoon

Anika, PeterleB has created a Lego Digital Designer (LDD) building instruction file for the upper CAB of your Lego NXTified Unimog, and has posted a few LDD screenprints: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=57543&view=findpost&p=1157564 .

Very good job! I like how you put the motors and the vehicle. Very clever. It might be very difficult to motorize a set.

Quoting techn0m0ves / 9Volt-boy Wow, very well done! Nice that you kept all the original functions. I'm still waiting on mine, because of some problems at the web-shop :( I also want to point you at the fact that the title should be changed, someone made a typing mistake: it says Unigmog! Have fun with this great RC mod, techn0m0ves
Oeps typing error. Title is fixed now. Thanks comment. Bye bye Anika Vuurzoon

Quoting NXT Liftboy That is really brilliant Anika! Amazing how fast you did this after the model became available. Having holidays? :) Thanks also for more or less showing how you achieved it. You write that the SCALA girl fits perfectly in the Unimog. I suppose you mean her physical dimensions? Despite the increased equality between women and men, i believe classy women driving unimogs are rare in reality...
Thanks for your comment. The size of the Scala girl is much beter than the size of the Technic boy figures. If you put the boy behind the steer, you should only see two eyes rise above the steer. So you could say this Unimog is made for girls instead of boys :)
