I know all about the helping hand syndrome - all my MOCs are built with 2 pairs of small hands at the ready.

Quoting Steef de Prouw Hello! Yay, nice classic space build. Since you asked for an honest opinion, I am going to give you one ;) On to your MOC: Lots of potential for playability with the flyer and the communications trailer. I like the use of the wheels. The blue and grey areas are a bit messy though - if you look at other classic space sets, you'll notice that there are usually distinct grey and blue areas, which don't often mix. Do the blue center on your grey satellite dish could be made grey to better match the theme, for instance. It's clear that you've learned your building techniques from classic space sets. This is nothing to worry about, but it's nice to get a newer set (something from the Creator series, for instance) to see what newer techniques and bricks are about today. Keep it up!
Thank you so much for the comments. I completely agree with you and see what you mean about constancy and separation. This was my first build in over twenty years so it was a fast one I did in about 35 minutes with the kids "trying to help". My second build, the Griffin, I paid much more attention to detail and am really happy with they way it looks. Please give it a review as well. I think I can swing investing in some updated sets and justify it as gifts for the kids. I am not sure if they will get a chance to play with them though once I get my hands on them. Thank you for the review though it was good advice.
